The poems in Paradoxical Love are stories about Ronald Hemphill's life. He was a former criminal and the mastermind of a multi-million dollar organized identity theft ring for nearly 20 years. He is now a born-again Christian. This book is an autobiographical story of his life told in a poetic style. Most of the poems are a true account of his life, and even the ones that are fictitious were a form of self-survival to get him through the prison system. The book opens with mini-sermons; spiritual poems that were inspired by the Holy Spirit in church while listening to his pastor preach the word of God. Next, the poems tell the story of how Ronald spent his time in prison, where he first taught himself how to write poems and deal with life in prison from a conscious perspective. As he looked for ways to remain positive, dealing with reality, and all the negativity that came with it, he found ways to entertain himself, with poems that make you smile. Poems from the heart are love poems that express his love for his wife of 31 years, who he was separated from at the time of his incarceration. And finally baby steps, the very first poems he wrote while in prison. Many of his poems are instructional, and give direction on how to maintain strong cultural and family values.
