I previously wrote a 1 star review of this seller because I had ordered a Homedic paraffin wax bath, model 3176A, for $57.89, but I received a cheaper model, # Para -300A , with a sticker on the box indicating that it was the model I ordered. However, the label for model 3176A was placed over the cheaper model PARA-300A that was clearly printed and still visible on the box. Beyond the clumsy relabeling, I knew I that I had received the cheaper model because it lacked an advertised temperature control that was supposed to be on Model 3176A, but wasn't on the model I received. I complained to Amazon and they refunded the $18 price difference between Model 3176A and Model Para-300A.
After writing the 1 star review I got a phone call from a representative of the seller, Premium America, explaining that Model 3176A had not been made for a year and would not be produced in the future. He offered additional paraffin wax refills "to make me feel better" and asked that I revise my review. I did get the wax refill and I do appreciate it. My wife has serious hand problems and the the paraffin wax bath does offer her relief. It had been suggested by her phyicial therapist.
So I've upgraded my rating to 3 stars for responsiveness. I can't give a higher rating because Premium America has not explained to me why they were selling a falsely labeled year-old model for $18 more than other sellers were offering the newer Model PARA 300A that I actually was sent. PS, in hind sight, I learned that I could have picked up the model PARA-300A at my local Bed Bath & Beyond for the Amazon price of $39.99, I would not have had to pay for shipping, and if I had used one of Bed Bath & Beyond's 20% coupons, I would have saved $8 off the Amazon price!
One reason that I was reluctant to order Model PARA-300A in the first place was that many other reviewers had complained that it leaked frequently. I will say that another reviewer was correct in pointing out that the box contains a plug that is obviously intended to cover an opening inside the wax chamber. The plug is not mentioned in the instructions, but if it is inserted it clearly prevents a possible leaking problem. My wife has only used the wax bath for a short time, but so far we have had no leaks. I will also say that the wax chamber is large enough for me to insert one of my size 13 feet!
