Romance Designing cars is tough for a woman, but Rachel Grant is determined to succeed in this gentle modern British romance. She has worked hard and prevailed in spite of the discrimination against her sex in a man's world, and she sees a job with Quentin Motors as the culmination of all she has strived for in her career. The major stumbling block is the owner, Lorne Quentin. He asks her personal questions that in America would be grounds for a lawsuit. Reluctantly, he offers her the job, and she takes it with the same reluctance because both feel the attraction between them. Each has a hard time trusting the opposite sex. Rachel mixed love with work on her first job and was spurned by her lover, and Lorne finds it hard to trust people due to his cold upbringing. Gradually, tension, false accusations, and other conflicts are overcome by love. Baker's contemporary yet old-fashioned romance provides genuine insights into her appealing characters' psyches and behavior.
