Like Navagating a Storm,

Speaking as an experienced professor of English and writing, I find the book to be poorly organized, grammar is not presented in context,and graphics are scant, irrelevant, and colorless. This is the tip of the iceberg.While the authors attempt to place the chapters sequentially from simple to complex, the chapters, as written, miss the mark. For example, the issue of topic sentences and thesis development does not occur until chapter six, after the section on revising and editing found in chapter four. How can students edit and revise if they don't know how to write a topic sentence? Sailing through the excess verbage is difficult enough, but constantly flipping to the back of the book for gramatical suport makes one sea sick.
