Editorial Reviews

Gold Dust announces Parallel Uni-Verses, a joint effort between Hieroglyphics founder Del The Funky Homosapien and original Artifacts emcee Tame One. Produced entirely by Parallel Thought, the album s ten tracks return to a time when inventiveness, creativity, funky beats and, above all, lyricism ruled hip-hop.

Parallel Uni-Verses is that rare rap album which transcends tired clichés and maintains traditional hip-hop values without seeming retro or passé. Proving that true lyricism is alive and well, Parallel Uni-Verses is another feather in the cap for Del and Tame, two prolific and highly-respected artists upholding the hip-hop art form at its best.

Parallel Thought is a sweet producer on this entire album. Could've used a real DJ though so 4/5 but that's not overlooking the fact that I felt like I was in '93. It's a solid product.

These are truly some living legends. More?

This album just came out today and it's an excellent effort from two MC's who's new collaboration has come with a very natural degree of anticipation. Del and Tame One make a great album here. On my first two listens there's no single track that stands out - it's just a solid album. Neither artist overshines the other and the production is completely professional caliber. This is such a balanced album that some people are destined to put it down a little - like somehow bringing these two lyricists together is magically supposed to great something greater than any of their other works... Both Del and Tame deliver dope rhymes and the composite sound made my first listen not only extremely easy and enjoyable, but the time flew by. I sat here with my headphones on and rocked it until I couldn't believe it was over already. Again, solid effort, great collab, and excellent product!

I can't lie, I had never heard of Tame One or Parallel Thought before I listened to this cd. I bought it solely because of my love for Del, and all the projects he's been involved in.

Now that I've absorbed it, I feel like I can say this album is a strong effort. Parallel Thought is a sick producer (I would love to get the instrumental version of this album) and Tame One is mostly on point. As always, Del is amazing. Then again I'm always impressed with him, minus a few terrible cuts off of "11th Hour."

If you want to test the waters, I would recommend downloading "Flashback" or "Before This." They showcase how good this collaboration can sound.

If it wasn't for a few tracks that were a little too raw for me, I'd give this album 5 stars. Maybe I'm getting old or something, but I'm still younger than them :) Regardless, this album is pretty fantastic.

Yeah, i was optimistic like everyone else is & was with this 1. Krs-1 & Buck didn't do it 4 me, whutsover... After the classics "Between a Rock and a Hard Place","No need 4 alarm" & the untoppable "Deltron 30/30". I heavily doubted these 2 were gonna do dammage considering Del's sad Def Jux album, & countless local Jersey City rumors that Tame's a crackhead etc.. But they did this with a "nostalgic" edge & released a CLASSIC sound peice! Parallel Thought's music practically MADE it all happen with his acid theatrical instrumentals which easily allowed the 2 vets to spit ANYWAY and ANYHOW they desired to, allowing them to showcase that the old dogs still pack 6,000,000 more tricks than these new kids do in the recording booth. The heavy guitar, piano, dj scratching sonic backgrounds easily restrain you from skipping any track. As an original school fan, i feel blessed this 1 came out! ..... Now, as far as the youngins who didn't experience "the golden-era". This album is gonna go over their heads quicker than a silent fart. I mean the tracks all pretty much kick a** from "franchise" + "specifics" to whutver else really. 2 thumbs up & evidence hip-hop's heart still beats!
