Great Study Aid,
By
This review is from: Paramedic National Standards Self-Test (5th Edition) (Paperback)
This is a great study aid in prep for the National Registry test. Use it after the completion of your coursework to zero in on all the miscellaneous National Standard Objectives. Each chapter focuses on a single topic, and really tests your knowledge of overall paramedic education. What I found particularly effective was to couple this book with Barron's. Barron's is very, very similar to the actual questions and difficulty on the computer exam, while this book provides a more full and well rounded check on all the subjects that may be tested.

I was so happy with this book. I reviewed it several times. Great questions, seen a lot of the same questions on my NREMT-P test. I would highly recommend this book at the beginning and go along through the whole class... I reviewed it at the very end of class several times as a cram session and I passed first try in only 70 questions. We even used it in the down time at clinicals.
The only thing with this book is that you will need the all Brady books and the AHA books to go with it. That is if you want a answer rationale to the questions. In the back with the answers it gives the page location in the Brady books. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED (along with a lot of studying!)

I purchased this manual as review study guide for myself during class. LOTS AND LOTS OF QUESTIONS. I found it helpful, but it could have been broken down into smaller sections based on one topic, not several together. I found myself having to sort through questions to find the ones pertaining to our studies. I do like being able to use this manual for reference questions. It is fine for quick study just for class. Good ECG review and med administrations. It has been useful for read and answer review.

This reveiw manual does a pretty good job of reviewing the new curriculum. The questions were written in a manner similar to the National Registry format.
I'll use it again to help my students prepare for the 'big test'.

Bought this for my sister who was studying for the National Registry test for Paramedics. She said that book was great and it was very helpful for her. Very happy to say, she is now a full fledged Paramedic.

This book is the same as all the other ones you've tried and had no success with. All the questions are somewhat relevent. However, they aren't written in the same manner as the National Registry, and they don't cover the proper subject matter.

Not for a good review,

This book is more for factual use-less knowledge that youwill never use in the real world of EMS. I would be happy to use mine as campfire kindling.

Not a good study resource,

I agree with Roe, it's ashamed that I can't give this book 1/2 a star, because that's what it deserves. This book is more for factual use-less knowledge that you will never use in the real world of EMS. It might be useful for leveling a wobbly table leg.
I am so glad that I didn't rely on this book as my only study resource. It seems that the only thing that Brady hoped to accomplish by publishing this book was to get people to purchase more of their books. I studied my old paramedic text books and paramedic school notes, reviewed my ACLS, PALS, PHTLS, AMLS texts and passed my NREMT-P exam on the first try. I have to say no thanks to this book. |
