Parametric Modeling with Autodesk Inventor R5

Several months ago I was given the assignment of teaching Autodesk Inventor two weeks before the start of the fall semester. I had never used the software before, so I was apprehensive at the least. I decided my first order of business would be to find a text from which to learn the software.

I searched on-line for several days for a text that would not only help me to learn the software, but one which could also be easily understood by a beginning student working independently. I found the Schroff Development Corporation's website and their texts were exactly what I was looking for. I ordered a copy and with it in-hand, headed into the lab. Needless to say, I chose the correct book. I was up and running in a matter of hours and had literally worked through the entire book a single day. I later found that most of my students had much of the same success. My more advanced students were working ahead several chapters on their own without difficulty.

Mr. Shih has done a fine job of presenting the material in such a way as to not overwhelm the reader with information, nor bore them with menial projects. I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a thorough, well written, easy to understand text.
