A Darker Side of Jazz,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Paranormal Jazz Project (MP3 Download)
As the successor to Kurfis's more classically-inspired "Symphonia" album, "Paranormal Jazz Project" is an eerie foray into the harmonic realms of jazz. What makes this album so remarkable, though, is that it is not a pure jazz endeavor. Rather, there are noticeable tonal centers and distinct melodic passages in every track. And, consistent with the guitar excesses demonstrated on "Symphonia," the "Paranormal Jazz Project" album showcases Kurfis's immense technical and improvisational abilities on the acoustic guitar. The result is a unique music form with dark overtones, jazz-like grooves, and blazing fret work.
