I remember reviewing this book many years ago for the Best Books for Young Adults. It was the worst,saddest story I have ever endured. When I read it, I kept thinking it has to get better, instead the story got prgressively worse. Don't torture yourself! It should never have won the awards that it did. As a group of book reviewers this book became the catalyst for launching our own list called Best Books by Young Adults, meaning we read, discussed, and voted on our own favorite books.
