Rogues with heart and soul, February 9, 2000

I believe this album was recorded some time in the mid to late 70's, after Ronnie Drew left the group to pursue a solo career and Ciaran Bourke suffered a stroke ('74). Ronnie returned in '79, but this album features the Dub's with the addition of Jim McCann, who replaced Ronnie during thos years. He sings lead on many of the songs. And what a voice! Just listen to "Avondale" and "Boulavogue"! Luke Kelly is also lead singer, and if you know anything about the Dub's, Luke needs no further introduction. Why not five stars? Blame the sound quality, which is rather less than ideal, unfortunately.
