Parcheesi, which originated in the U.S. in 1860, is based on pachisi, the ancient and still popular game of India. In this long-time favorite game, players try to get all four of their pawns around the board, from starting position to home, before their opponents do. Competition gets tough when other players get in the way by capturing pawns, erecting blockades, or finding crafty dodges around the traps you lay for them. This version features an appealing maze-like board with just a few pieces and a pair of dice. Parcheesi is excellent family fun. The small pieces, however, are a choking hazard for young children.
