I have a four year old and a two year old. They both try to get into the fridge and freezer all the time. I've tried a different fridge lock that required you to do something to lock it each time, but that meant that I'd forget to lock it some times. With this one, you never have to even try to remember. It just locks when you close the fridge. It's easy to open with one hand (not like the other that almost required you to use two) and it's clear too, so it's hardly noticeable. Of course it is still noticeable, but it doesn't stand out at all. It's very simple to use. I would put it up high though, or the kids will just pry it off. The top of the fridge is the best place.

I had to get this after I found my 3 year old throwing the carton of eggs I had just bought on the floor. That was SUCH a mess. I like to encourage and praise her independence, but that about set me through the roof! I ordered this soon after and was crossing my fingers that it would work as advertised. I had to take off the latch part because I had stuck it too close to the hook, so it wouldn't work properly. I was afraid it wouldn't stick as well after that, but it hasn't lost its grip and she has tugged and tugged at it. I live in military quarters and I'm always careful about sticking things up that might leave marks or damage. Even after I had to pry it off when I realized my error, there was no damage to the fridge at all. It's great because you can open it with one hand and it latches on its own when the fridge door closes. I wish I could give this product more stars!

My 3 year old use to open the refrigerator door all day long and leave the door open.
I installed right away when I received the product. My son stop right away opening the door. Worked well.

Don't bother
If a three year old can compromise this latch, it's not worth a penny. Cheap plastic that ended up break just one week of using it.

Something finally worked!
This is the only product we tried that worked to keep our toddler out of the fridge, yet was easy enough for our 5 year old to use. And, because it's clear, it's discrete. Read more

Perfect!
I love this latch because when the fridge door closes, it automatically locks. So if I turn my back for a second, I know my son can't open the door. Brilliant and easy to install.

Refrigerator Guard
This works great and keeps my schipperke out of the refrigerator. I would recommend this for keeping a dog out of the refrigerator.
