This is a life saver!,

I have a four year old and a two year old. They both try to get into the fridge and freezer all the time. I've tried a different fridge lock that required you to do something to lock it each time, but that meant that I'd forget to lock it some times. With this one, you never have to even try to remember. It just locks when you close the fridge. It's easy to open with one hand (not like the other that almost required you to use two) and it's clear too, so it's hardly noticeable. Of course it is still noticeable, but it doesn't stand out at all. It's very simple to use. I would put it up high though, or the kids will just pry it off. The top of the fridge is the best place.

It is high quality, solid construction, and works well.
My 3 year old use to open the refrigerator door all day long and leave the door open. I installed right away when I received the product. My son stop right away opening the door. Worked well. Highly recommend

This refrigerator lock is a piece of junk. I would have returned it to the seller, except it's not worth the postage or the time I would have to spend at the post office. I followed the instructions for attaching the lock to my refrigerator EXPLICITLY, and every time I opened the refrigerator door, the damn thing snapped off. TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE product. I am thoroughly DISSATISFIED.

This is a life, sanity and grocery saver!,

I had to get this after I found my 3 year old throwing the carton of eggs I had just bought on the floor. That was SUCH a mess. I like to encourage and praise her independence, but that about set me through the roof! I ordered this soon after and was crossing my fingers that it would work as advertised. I had to take off the latch part because I had stuck it too close to the hook, so it wouldn't work properly. I was afraid it wouldn't stick as well after that, but it hasn't lost its grip and she has tugged and tugged at it. I live in military quarters and I'm always careful about sticking things up that might leave marks or damage. Even after I had to pry it off when I realized my error, there was no damage to the fridge at all. It's great because you can open it with one hand and it latches on its own when the fridge door closes. I wish I could give this product more stars!

This was a waste of time and money...it broke within a week, and didn't stick to the fridge at all.

This looks different than it is, it just slides over the other piece. The reason I got it was because I thought it was a lock as it appears to keep kids out of the refrigerator. Even my 1 yr. old nephew was able to figure out how to open it and it left sticky residue on my fridge that I can't get off. I tried goo gone and super glue remover, acetone and scrubbing it-nothing works. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone and am upset that I spent money on 2 of them.

I have a two year old grandson that thinks he is 'the boss' of the refridgerator. We were getting frustrated with trying to keep him out of it. When I saw this product I was skeptical that it would work. I wasn't sure that it would adhere well enough but in my desperation I ordered it anyway and am I ever glad I did. It has worked great and has given us all more peace in the house! I recommend it to anyone that is seeking out some peace of mind!

Maybe I have a magic house where stuff like this just doesn't work?,

Okay, so I read all the reviews about how fabulous this product was (for the most part) and decided to get several sets of these to secure our three refrigerators. Yes, three...don't ask? 2 are in the garage and 1 is in the house. We have 3- 2 year olds...now the multi- fridges may make more sense. These little buggers are industrious, but beyond that- I also thought this looked like a good product to keep one's husband from forgetting to actually close the freezer door all the way. There's nothing like watching 9 hours of couponing go out the window when you find all of the meat you are stockpiling is cooking inside your freezer because the door is wide open in a 200* garage. Nice. Okay, back to the product. These definitely do NOT work in a hot environment. The adhesive on the back of the two pieces literally melts, so do not even consider these in an environment that is remotely hot or humid. You'd be better off buying a used bandaid. I was pretty pleased with these inside for about 2-3 weeks. The simple fact is that, the adhesive is just not meant to withstand any real, repetitive stress. With 3 kids, I am in and our of the fridge a zillion times during the day. With regular use, the slight lifting you need to do to get the male end of the latch let go of the female end is just too much on the poor old adhesive. It gets tired and eventually loses its grip (kind of like parents)... So now my kids regularly just take these things off of the fridge and rub what's left of the adhesive in one another's hair. Yet, another drama. So, my advice: save your money, or buy some industrial size luggage belt to wrap around the whole stinking refrigerator if you really want to keep industrious fingers out of the fridge OR purchase a tazer and zap your kids if they go within 4' of the fridge (kidding of course.)

We bought this because my autistic son started to enjoy getting up at 2 or 3 in the morning, and was flushing anything liquid from the fridge down the toilet. Yep, both expensive and gross.
So, these took a couple of seconds to install (just make sure to line them up before adhering, so that you can actually open your fridge and/or get the lock to catch). And, they worked until my son got tall enough to reach them and figured out how to open it up. While I'm glad to see he's developing cognitively, I'm back to sleeping with one ear open for the sound of the fridge cracking open . . . :) [BTW, we haven't removed them yet, so I can't tell you if they leave a mark]

The fridge guard seems to work well after some trial and error. The problem is that the instructions aren't very clear. If you install the clip as shown in the picture, when you close the door, the latch doesn't catch but rather puts undo stress on the adhesive. Eventually the catch adhesive gives and the product is useless. To shut the door, you really have to push on the door to compress the gasket around the door. Same thing to open the fridge door, need to first push in to compress the gasket, then pull back on the catch and then open door. Not very useful this way.
What you got to do, is attach the catch so it step out forward a bit than shown. That way, when you close the door it will snap in and latch. When pulling on the door handle, you can still open the door a tiny bit but you can't get in the fridge and the catch and adhesive aren't stressed. Good product once you figure that out and needs better mounting instructions. |
