This review is from: Parental Presence: Reclaiming a Leadership Role in Bringing Up Our Children (Paperback)
This book is excellent. It is a refreshing change from the one-method-fits-all type of parenting books on the market. Omer intelligently and persuasively outlines a philosophy of parent-child engagement that leaves blame exactly where it belongs--nowhere. The principles of parenting run deeper than time-outs and taking control. This book acknowledges that the parent-child relationship is a two-way street. It is specifically written for those who have found that the ubiquitously prescribed time-outs (for example) do NOT work for all children. Omer offers not only a variety of other options and ideas, but an enormously constructive and healing way of framing the problem so that struggling parents have the means to evolve their own solutions that fit their unique situation. I highly recommend this book for ALL parents because of its powerful and deeply insightful understanding of the most important relationships in our children's lives.
