a tremendous help,

This review is from: Parenthood Lost: Healing the Pain after Miscarriage, Stillbirth, and Infant Death (Hardcover)
I caught Dr Berman's appearance on the Today show just 4 days after our daughter was born stillborn 4 weeks ago. I gave birth at Yale New Haven Hospital (where Dr Berman practices) so I dont know if it was coincidental that I saw this just as we too were experiencing this great loss. To make a long story short, this book has helped me tremendously!! I read thru it in 2 days and cried at every single page. I found it very helpful that my husband and I are not the only ones going thru this sort of pain. The book is full of poems and stories from people who have been thru similiar experiences. This book and Dr Bermans website ...has really opened my eyes and heart to other women who have experienced this. I have been given other books on this subject by friends and family over the past month..and this one is by far superior! I now have a great support group of other people who have had a stillborn child in their 3rd trimester. ...

This book provides a comprehensive yet sensitive approach to a very difficult subject matter. The pain of losing a child through miscarriage, stillbirth, and infant death is a devastating life event yet may professionals such as physicians and nurses are at a loss for how to deal with this tragedy. This book helps professionals honor and respect a life recognized by the parents. The stories of parents' losses help the reader gain knowledge of what it is like to loose a child. Dr Berman also explains the most common reasons for many types of perinatal losses. This book is a necessary addition to every obstetrician's bookcase. I purchased several of these books to give to physician friends and kept one for myself, as a labor and delivery nurse. I have not been disappointed in what I have read so far!

I found it really helpful. My daughter-in-law has had 4 miscarriages, and I had a stillborn baby years ago. We plan to get together and discuss the book soon. It gives us a good basis for sharing. We both especially liked the stories shared by the families and the professionals who work in Labor and Delivery. Thank you. Gail

This may have been a good book, but the Kindle version looks like it was scanned on a really old bad scanner.
It was so distracting that I couldn't read the book and had to return it right away. |
