As a grandmother and great-grandmother I had a variety of responses to this very practical book: amazement at new concepts that are simple and common sense, joy that such a resource is available for today's parents, and sadness over my own lack of knowledge when I was raising my children. It's never too late, however, and awareness will mean I can encourage my grandchildren in new ways.

THis book is a great resource for parents who want to raise Godly children. I found the examples of how to include God in your child's every day to be encouraging. I also have a completely new perspective on when and how to start talking about God with my children. A must for parents looking for current and fresh ideas on raising children to know and love God.

My children are grown, they have set out on a course of defining their own lives.
In reading this book, it invited me to remember the innocent places of my children's questions and wonderings...
While I would have loved this resource in raising my children, it has been a wonderful tool of engaging with my children in conversations about their childhood, without judgement.
Vivian Houk has a beautiful way of acknowledging the tutorial beauty children have teaching us to pause, listen and experience God.
Grateful for the continued conversations and the discovery of this book.
Will be a standard resource for how I grandparent...someday.

I have known Viv Houk for many years as a coworker, friend and parent. Her book is a gift to all who think our children are capable of more than just just learning bible stories and morals. Viv helps us to see the potential in kids for experiencing God for themselves. As Pastor of Kids and Families at Church of the Open Door she taught me, her staff and the lay leaders how to respect and foster an environment where we don't get in the way of God's work in Kids but come alongside what God is already doing in Kids and shepherd them. One of my favorite memories was her story of one child who Viv's teaching and approach had profoundly touched. The teacher (under Viv's direction) had learned how to create an environment where kids experience of God was respected and enhanced. When a little grade school girl had been taught what prayer was all about...listening for God's voice...the little girl shared how she heard God. Prayer for her was "God whispering across her heart". WOW. If you want to see God work in your kids, read this book and follow Viv's advice. You will be amazed at what God does when adults become humble enough to let God be God with our kids.
