This book is a must read for all parents,
By Joe P Nolan (Coppell, TX United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Parenting with Dignity (Hardcover)
Parenting with Dignity by Mac Bledsoe is a must read for all parents. I am the father of three children and have been searching for years for good parenting advice. Unlike many other resources I have tried, this book gives you real answers and provides real solutions to everyday problems and challenges that all parents face. I am applying the concepts Mac discusses in his book and already seeing positive results at home with my children. Thank you Mac Bledsoe.

What a Terrific Book!,
By Tina Tidd (Wenatchee, WA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Parenting with Dignity (Hardcover)
Parenting With Dignity is one of the best written books I have ever read. You will be amazed at the parenting philosphies that will help you in raising your children....whether you are just enhancing your own parenting skills or if you are at your wit's end with different parenting techniques that do not work for your child. Mac is a wonderful speaker and that has definitely crossed over into his writing. You will enjoy the personal details of Mac's life as you find they will relate to you and your own children. You won't want to put the book down until you have read through it once....then keep going back for repetition! This world will be a better place if all of us parents read and act on what we have learned!

Read It,
By E Mechem (Norman, OK United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Parenting with Dignity (Hardcover)
This book is all about making your parenting life more enriching. It advocates backing off a little and letting your kids learn. I have enjoyed my kids much more since I learned to let go a little. I have been so tired of hearing about how spanking your kids, excessive timeouts, taking away stuff, rules, rules, and more rules, etc. is going to teach your kid something. It doesn't. This book outlines what works instead. It's right up there with Dr. Sears' The Discipline Book in my parenting arsenal. Drop Dobson and Ezzo and give Mac Bledsoe's book a chance. There is a more dignified way to parent.note: David didn't write this. I did(Elizabeth Mechem). I can't get David's profile off this computer!!!

We have used Mac Bledsoe's philosophies in his book, "Parenting with Dignity" as a tool in our "very strong willed" granddaughter's life. She has made a complete turnaround and is an extremly happy and well adjusted child...Thank you Mr. Bledsoe! It is our common practice to give this wonderful and helpful book to all expecting parents in our circle of friends and family. "Parenting with Dignity" will be the most thoughtful and valuable gift you can give at any baby shower!

A Great Church Outreach! Wonderful Parenting Tool!,

A Great Church Outreach!
We have implemented Mac's 'Parenting with Dignity' curriculum into our education program at our church. This has not only served to better equip parents on how to raise responsible, independent children but has been a wonderful outreach tool to the unchurched community. The 5-point plan explained in this book can easily be incorporated into biblical principles which we teach simultaneously. If we can help you incorporate this parenting plan into your church, feel free to email us bobmorris45@clearwire.netParenting with Dignity: The Early Years

Greatest book ever,
This review is from: Parenting with Dignity: Getting Beyond Crisis Management - a Five-Point Plan for Raising Responsible, Independent Kids (Paperback)
This is the only review I've ever written. This book needs to be read by every parent. I bought a copy of it for my brother and sisters to read and those that took the time to read it were very glad that they did. It is one of my favorite books period.

I found this book very accessible with many examples that were easy to relate to. In other parenting books that I have read I found that the authors created an academically acceptable book, but in doing so they generally missed the target of reaching non-academically trained parents. Mr. Bledsoe hits the mark in a simple, digestible "reference" book. I think of this book as a "reference" book as it often go back to it as my three young girls grow.

I own about 10 parenting books and this is the only one that works. It is neither "too liberal" nor "too conservative". It suggests a true Relationship of mutual respect with your kids, without allowing them to rule the roost.
It's a funny book, heartwarming, and motivational, with real-world advice as the author learned it the hard way from years in the classroom. This is a great book for teachers and caretakers and we are giving it to a relative who teaches 6th graders. Of all the books in my collection this is the only one I've bothered writing a review for because it actually works. And I'm not exhausting myself trying to keep up with/enforce the rules. I have to think hard sometimes on how to apply the principles to my diffucult 6year old daughter, but when I make the connection it works every time.

dumb title, great book,

I am a fierce liberal and non-Christian, but I found this book to be a wonderful parenting resource. Bledsoe's advice is timeless and no-nonsense, and he is not overly preachy like most Christian Republicans. Even if you would disagree with his politics, give Bledsoe's book a chance.
