You know that being a parent is a tough, yet rewarding job with long hours, no salary or benefits, and no instruction manual. Everywhere you turn there's some dull book on parenting techniques written by someone who may not even have kids!

The help you need is here in Parenting for Dummies, the no-nonsense parenting guide for the '90s, written by parents for parents! Get the inside scoop on parenting basics for dealing with everyday issues like discipline, potty training, finding good day care, dealing with bathtime, bedtime, and more.

Inside, you'll discover how to: use the friendly advice for dealing with kids from newborns to pre-teens; find helpful hints that only an experienced parent can offer; discover answers to the most common parenting questions; uncover tips for dealing with cranky babies, dining out, and squabbling siblings; create guidelines for co-parenting (the two-party system); communicate effectively with your children; and uncover suggestions for household rules and other parenting dos and don'ts. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

5.0 out of 5 stars this book was my support system, July 2, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Parenting for Dummies (Paperback)
I had found this book to be one of the best, simplest and most supportive parenting books around. at the time my son was 7 -12 months, I was pretty much without a support system, and this book was my lifeline and my bible to parenting. It's wonderful.

1.0 out of 5 stars Much better books out there, February 16, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Parenting For Dummies (Paperback)
We've bought other ...for dummies books before and have been quite happy. But this book was a huge disappointment. Maybe because the topic isn't easily handled in the typical ...for dummies format. Also, the author you can tell is used to writing computer manuals. The book is often preachy and rarely helpful. I definitely wouldn't recommend it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Some good advice....some not-so-good, June 9, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Parenting for Dummies (Paperback)
I'd recommend this book only if you've already read books by credentialed authors, since the authors only expertize is that they have children. They have obviously researched their material because they do offer some good advice. Here's a few books by experts I'd recommend: The Baby Book and The Discipline Book BOTH by Dr. William Sears, and Kid Cooperation (How to Stop Yelling, Nagging and Pleading) AND Perfect Parenting Dictionary BOTH by Elizabeth Pantley
