This book is a vitally important source of guidance in the area of child/baby raising, and i feel very grateful to the author Robin Grille for sharing this deeply insightful knowledge with the world. I feel inspired and excited about the prospect of nurturing my child into a confident and deeply aware adult.

Although at times confronting, even disturbing, I found the descriptive, historical accounts of child raising throughout the ages particularly helpful towards my understanding of my own parents' and ancestors' childhoods, and this is what sets the book apart from all the other parenting books i have read. Its also inspirational to read how greatly parenting has improved and how much children's suffering has decreased as time has progressed. Robin describes in detail how we can step up to the next level in the evolution of parenting, and with this new understanding comes clarity, compassion, and the ability to allow the old rigid and harmful ways to effortlessly fall away from our parenting techniques. Its clear that this new advancement in parenting will not only evolve our species further but quite possibly, save it from self destruction.

At Feb 07 there has been only 1 review. Shame, this man is a rising star. Beautifully researched and written, stunning in its revelations. Why has the world taken so long to produce such an expose on childhood trauma? I read it and bought multiple copies for family and friends.

This is the one of those books you can't put down. It has and is changing my life. I agree with all the other reviews so will just give you a few of the things that I got out of it:

It has left me with a great understanding of the world we live in and why people are the way we are and why with each generation - things generally get slightly better and a little easier going.

Specifically I understand and empathise much more with my own parents and my in laws, seeing how they have been shaped from their parent's style of parenting. This has then allowed me to know why my parents, parenting style has made me the person I am today...its freaky and refreshing to know that I have been programmed, but also now feel way more empowered to do some reprogramming.

Most importantly it has certainly changed many of my thoughts on parenting and has empowered to truly create an environment for our children to grow up peacefully and holistically without me messing it up and also be thrilled to actually build a genuine connection with my children without the hidden pressure to try to.

If you read it, you won't be disappointed.

This book is so eye-opening, profound and even life changing. I only wish parents were required to read this!

I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone interested in parenting or just interested in self-development. Understanding parenting styles that were prevalent during our childhood helps us go through a self discovery thought process that can make us better persons. Every individual should go through this self discovery process in order to stop the vicious cycle of making the same mistakes in bringing up our children as our parents made with us. If we want our children to jump to the next level of human civilization, every parent or parent to be should understand what this book advocates and care for their children following these guidelines.

I've read a lot, but this book is just Wow.
If only people who need it could have this book
I will be recommending this book and buying it for all new parents or soon to be new parents.

The childhood origins of human actions and choices and differences between violent and humane action contribute to a fine book on how parenting customs have shaped societies and major world events. New research on children's emotional development provides a foundation for learning how to create a more peaceful world, making for a book for not just parents but adults learning to be whole, and policy-makers seeking to understand issues affecting peace. Any parenting or social issues library will find it relevant.

This is not another parenting book. I read this book 2 years ago, and it is still the book i most often recommend to others. As well as being fascinating, and disturbing, it is hopeful, astonishing and inspiring. I am so grateful for the person that led me to it, i realise these recommendations might sound a bit over the top, but it really is an extraordinary book,buy more than one copy as you will want others to read it.

The well being of our children is the single most important aspect of any society, yet we have in many cases a poor history in caring for our young. Parenting for a Peaceful World is a long overdue and brilliantly documented history of parenting. I highly recommend it to any parent or person with children in their lives. Thank you Robin Grille for championing the needs of children!!

As others have said, this book is not a 'how-to' manual on raising children. It is more of an exploration of how the way we treat other humans, especially early in life, can have profound effects on the future of humankind. I cannot recommend it enough. If you are a parent, a prospective parent, or if children are involved in your life in any way, this book is for you.
