5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant Common Sense, October 6, 2004
This review is from: Parenting with Respect and Peacefulness: The Most Difficult Job in the World (Paperback)
Louise Dietzel presents ideas that at first seem to be no big surprise, that is until you hear the words that come out of your mouth when speaking to your children, and then try to model her suggestions. Her ideas are radical. She suggests that the key to shifting our children's behavior lies in shifting our own. She asks us to look closely at how we were raised, and to think consciously about what patterns of ours we want our children to repeat. This is a must-have book for parents who think they are already doing a great job. Above all, Louise Dietzel respects the child.

5.0 out of 5 stars the Book in Action, September 25, 2006
This review is from: Parenting with Respect and Peacefulness: The Most Difficult Job in the World (Paperback)
Our daughter and son-in-law read this book and I have seen it in action with their 3 year old (and her action with her 10 month old sister). There are very few power plays, and lots of please and thank you's - not for every little thing, but especially when behavior is changed or a good choice is made. No need for "time outs"! Parenting with respect of our children is sometimes difficult if one is not in the habit, but it doesn't appear to be a habit established with difficulty. I wish I had had this book when we were raising our children.
