5.0 out of 5 stars A guidebook to navigating adoptive parenthoo
Should you treat your adopted child just like your neighbor treats her child who wasn't adopted? Or should you worry about every problem, thinking it may be linked somehow to being adopted?

The answer is that raising an adopted child is a balancing act and Dr. Adesman offers practical advice and guidance on doing just that, whether your child is an infant...

2.0 out of 5 stars This book's for you....if you've done little research
A good book for the person embarking on their adoption journey. However, if you've already adopted and have done a bit of research into adoptive parenting, you are most likely already aware of how to deal with many of the situations presented in this book.

The answer is that raising an adopted child is a balancing act and Dr. Adesman offers practical advice and guidance on doing just that, whether your child is an infant through the tough adolescent years. Based on practical experience and backed up by valuable research studies, Parenting Your Adopted Child is a helpful book well-worth its very low price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good book for many types of parents, June 5, 2008

This is a good book to have in any home's collection of adoption books. It discusses a variety of different topics, and covers everything from infancy to teen years. While some of the aspects of the book were not useful yet (I am adopting a young child), the resources in this book will be valuable as she grows up. Worth your consideration.

This book covers everything from society's perspective's on adoption all the way to dealing with teenager's. I've read a few different types of adoption books and this is the first one I'd recommend.
