5.0 out of 5 stars Cute, fun toy for pet loving kids.
My 5 year old son loves this toy! He loves dogs and enjoys locking the little compartments after examining the dogs. It is a great size for carrying and taking along to other places. He has played with this more than any other toy we got him for Christmas.

3.0 out of 5 stars Follow-Up Review
The seller was apologetic and offered a partial refund while I kept the merchandise when it was advertised as new and was actually used. Very quick and responsive to my concern.

I've bought this toy for about 10 different kids. Girls and boys between the ages of 3-8 just love it. All the instruments and all the little compartments are really fun for the kids.

I would highly recommend this product.

My kids played with this at a relatives and couldn't tear themselves away. They loved caring for the animals and using the keys to put them into their little cubby's and take them out again. Nice variety of Vet items and soft animals (the newest B one only comes with 2 it looks like, which is kind of a bummer).

However, this is at other retail stores for around $30, NOT $250 as is listed here. That is insulting and ridiculous. To the other reviewer scolding PARENTS for a price increase, it isn't PARENTS that jacked the price up on Amazon. It's the seller, in this listing BargainMarket. Not a Bargain by any stretch and makes me be sure and distrust anything from this seller. if you can find the toy elsewhere, it's a great item. Just don't think it's worth what sellers are listing it for here.

My wife purchased this for my daughter 2 years ago for $22 and it was worth every penny. We were going to buy it for my nephew for his birthday but NO WAY for $69. PARENTS - this price increase is an insult to me and I doubt if I'll ever purchase another item from your company again.

Not sure why but he just doesn't play with it. It's great because of all the colors and I do try to encourage him to play with it, but he won't. I guess it's just not his thing.

My son received this when he was two years and it was a favorite for many months. He loved using the keys to lock and unlock the doors. He now uses it as a garage to store his matchbox cars.

My children, 4 and 2, love this toy. You match the keys up to the different door locks and get to take out the animals. They have vet-doctor instruments so you can do check-ups, etc, but my children never get that far. They just love unlocking the doors, taking out the animals and putting them back away and locking the doors back up. It's cute, colorful, and oh-so-intriguing for them. "What could possibly be behind the green door?...It's the cat...AGAIN!!!" We first discovered this toy at my daughter's occupational therapy; this toy is excellent with the mental challenge of matching the key to the door and then the manual dexterity it requires of them to turn the lock & open the door. We have bought extra animals so that all the doors keep one, maybe even two, surprises.

3.0 out of 5 stars Raised the price but making it cheaply....BUMMER!, February 14, 2010

Apparently, Parent drastically raised the price on this product and, at the same time, began manufacturing it cheaply. I purchased this product for just over $40 despite the fact that it used to go for $20 because reviewers said their children loved locking the doors and that it came with a working stethoscope. I received the product only to discover that the locking mechanisms on the doors are poorly made (I fear my child may break them rather quickly) and the stethoscope certainly does not work as it is made of plastic. Also, the ear nubs on it are so large that they hurt my son's ears.

I would not have bought this toy if I had been able to inspect it in a store.

Congratulations to Parents for such a great invention. I could barely get my daughter (2) to leave the dentist's office one day because she was playing with this! They did not have the soft animals in it. And no accessories. Only the set of keys and inside each compartment was a different Little People animal. That was our introduction to the toy. I knew we had to give it to her for Christmas. And, sure enough, once she opened it she had eyes for nothing else. There is just such a fascination with the discovery of unlocking (and relocking) the doors all by yourself, over and over and over! I love that each key will only work with its corresponding color. She likes each spot to be filled up with something, so we have stuck in a couple little teddy bears and one googly frog in the other doors. The plush animals that come with it are very cute. As she gets older she may get into the whole treating the animals thing. For now, it holds its own merit simply from the keys. I admit that the locking mechanism for the lid is tricky. She is now 2.5 and is pretty bright, so I don't think it will take her long to master it, now that we own it. It would be pretty tough for younger kids. That does not bother me at all, though. I like it when there are things on toys to grow into and be able to do as kids grow. I highly recommend this toy, although I couldn't swallow the price. So, I found it on craigslist. I noticed, on amazon, though that there is a company called Branford that is selling this for like twenty dollars less. FYI, this toy is about 5 inches deep, maybe 13 inches tall and 15 inches wide. (estimations) Happy shopping!
