William Coleman eloquently describes the enormous heartache of parents of prodigal children. He does not sugar-coat the painful reality nor try to give empty hope. Seeking to help hurting parents understand their own pain, Coleman includes stories of parents who have struggled with their young adults' poor choices in life. He encourages them to accept their reality and move on with their own lives while trusting their child to God.

Mr. Coleman provides a realistic view of parenting and family life. Parents do their best but at some point adult children are responsible for their own decisions. Using real life situations Mr. Coleman is able to take the reader to acceptance and putting away 'false guilt' and all the 'if onlys' or 'what ifs'. Acceptance and grace are provided. He also includes a chapter on adoption that would prove helpful for those in that situation.

I was able to quickly peruse this book before handing it on to someone that needed it. I wanted to encourage this person. Well, I see this person weekly and every time she thanks for giving it to her. It has really helped her deal with her situation.

If you have a prodigal child, you know how devastating it can be to the family. This book puts that all into perspective and explains the dynamics going on. Using real life stories, the author helps parents with prodigals understand their situation, deal with the emotions and second guessing, and know that they are not alone. A must read.

This is an excellent book for parents who are having trouble with

rebellious teens. It is a quick read and offers wise advise from an author who has obviously been in that parent's shoes. I've bought about 18 copies to give to struggling parents.
