The best book on discipline I've seen in 10 years of looking,
By A Customer
This review is from: Parents Please Don't Sit on Your Kids (Fearon early childhood library) (Paperback)
This book, written by an experienced mother & grandmother & nursery-school director all rolled into one, packs a whole approach to healthy families into just 178 pages. It is full of practical information (including sample dialogues) about how to make discipline a positive process. So many former struggles become easy. Clare Cherry is a very wise lady and her ideas have helped us produce a capable, pleasant, self-reliant 10-year-old and enjoy the process. As the old adage says, children do what we DO, not what we SAY. Children who are treated politely and with respect grow up to show the same courtesy to their parents and to other people. This book shows you how to make that happen.

Wonderful book I first had in the 70's...esssential stuff for keeping harmony in the home. I let a friend borrow it when shewas having trouble with one of her kids...its probably still being passed around. I recommend it to anyone. Its nice having a copy in the house again....it contains many, many, many good ideas for discipline w/o yelling, screaming, and spanking. |
