Perfect for making kefir! And for storing grains, cookies, etc.,

Making kefir is so easy if you've got two of these. Put the kefir grain/culture in one, cover with milk, seal jar, let sit for a day on your counter, then simply scoop out the culture with a slotted plastic spoon. Seal jar and put in fridge, put culture in other jar, repeat!
There. That took less than a minute to read and do. Or, pay some online ripoff artist money to get pointless videos offering a more byzantine method that works not nearly as well. Life is so easy when you take the time to experiment. I did and found this kefir method which I'll put next to anybody's. Cost: two of these (or similar) flip-top bottles and a slotted plastic spoon, which are a buck or less at any dollar store. Mason jars work too but are harder to clean and the mouth is not as wide. These are the best, believe it. These containers are also perfect as cookie jars, storing grains (if in dark cupboard), etc. I love 'em; easy to clean, hard to break, last forever. I've had one for well over a decade and the grommet is still fresh, not hard. This brand is good but most are similarly fine. Just make sure to always wash the grommet inside and out. Enjoy your kefir!

I love these jars. They're awesome. First off, they are pretty heavy glass, so they can take bumps from other items on a shelf without you having to worry about damage. They are very well-made with nice smooth edges on the lips of the jar, not all rough and chippy feeling like on cheap jars. As far as the seal, I've been using mine to store herbs and haven't noticed any real degradation of any sort so I'd have to say that the seal seems to be pretty good. The quality of these jars really is great for the money.

What can you say about a jar that is very solid, has a wonderful feeling locking clasp, and seals very tightly. How about worth every penny. Does exactly what it's designed to do efficiently and without concern. Will last for years and give dependable service. New gaskets will provide the new jar feel and sealing when ever needed in the future.

I bought 2, Le Parfait French Glass Canning Jar with Gasket and Lid - 3/4 (.75) Liter jars to see if they would meet my needs. They turned out to be exactly what I wanted. Unfortunately, when I attempted to buy additional jars, I found they were "out of stock" with no idea when (if ever) they might be once again available.

This jar is not air tight.
I am preserving lemons. The jar when turned upside down leaks. I tried replacing the seal. Same result. I can't imagine canning with these. I guess i will use them for dry products.

although i love this little french glass ( i store coffee grounds in), i am only giving it 3 stars because i think i may have been able to get it for way cheaper at the other places. sure, sometimes i get amazon.com happy and start clicking my life away, but i may have jumped the gun on this one. some places have it for less than 10 bucks, so you may want to shop around. just to save yourself the guilty feeling of spending to much. overall, great container :)

I use the complete set for storing sugars, flour, etc. Needed to replace this one because the top at the lid broke. Not sure how it broke but I do think it might have been user error and not product flaw.
