The atmosphere of this first volume of the "Paris Immortal" trilogy is Parisian. This page turner combines the development of deep, loving relationships with plot-justified "action". Very little of the plot and characters is stereotypical or predictable, and appropriately labeled parts of chapters are told in the first-person by various of the main characters -- all keeping the story rich, and my interest high. The reader is gradually brought into the inner circle of this intimate world of very special vampires and mortals; I have developed keen emotions for each of these complex characters, both the "good" sorts and the "bad". The second volume of the three -- I currently am reading it -- seamlessly continues the first; neither volume would stand alone. I recommend this story to all who desire immersion in rich atmosphere, loving relationships, and dark mystery, and who are open to personal growth as a result of the experience.

I am a huge fan of vampire novels and a friend of mine let me borrow this book under the condition if I wanted to read the next one I would have to buy it, lol! OMG! This book was amazing, it grabs you and pulls you in. Each character comes alive on the pages! And yes, I not only bought the next book but I bought this one as well in order to have the complete set. This is not like any other series I have read. There's a plot that continues throughout, and when finished you want more! Michel, Garbriel and Trey make an fantastic trio. A must read!

I thoroughly enjoyed getting to meet Trey. He has a complex past that we only get a glimpse of in this book and it leaves you wanting for more. The relationship that builds between Trey and Gabriel, and Trey and Michel is quite intimate. And it develops in a very short period of time, but then it is understandable once you find out the closeness THEY don't even know they share. I definitely will be loaning this out to friends and family. As well as the rest of the series.

If you're searching for a different kind of vampire story, this is it. Ms. Roit has crafted a modern vampire tale that surprises you and widens any notion of this genre. It is not a cookie cutter book, and from the first few pages you know you're in for something very cool, quirky and readable.
