Book Description

January 31, 2012

A chic and humorous visual homage to two of the world's most iconic cities.

When Vahram Muratyan began his online travel journal, Paris versus New York, he had no idea how quickly it would become one of the most buzzed-about sites on the Internet-it garnered more than a million and a half page views in just a few months, and the attention of savvy online critics. Now Muratyan presents his unique observations in this delightful book, featuring visually striking graphics paired with witty, thought-provoking taglines that celebrate the special details of each city. Paris versus New York is a heartfelt gift to denizens of both cities and to those who dream of big-city romance.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"In his witty, high-concept, high-colored flipbook “Paris Versus New York: A Tally of Two Cities” ...Mr. Muratyan uses splashy collagist art to showcase the visual beauty marks of the two metropolises."
(The New York Times)

5.0 out of 5 stars For art lovers and travel buffs..... January 31, 2012
By Crosby
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
Anyone who has ever visited or lived in one of these two magical cities will be riveted by the beautiful graphic designs in this book as well as amused by the side by side comparisons, often wonderfully ironic. Vahram Muratyan has distilled the essence of both cities with love and a critical eye for each of them. The book is a terrific conversation piece and a great gift for anyone who loves to travel, either physically or just in the mind.

5.0 out of 5 stars tres charmante February 21, 2012
Format:Hardcover
Witty and fun comparisons that aren't a bit 'odious' unless you'd rather live in the opposite city..like Paris and who wouldn't? Visually and graphically arresting. Each city's icons do a face-off. I'll take Amelie over Carrie anyday. Or would I?

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent
If you know Paris and New York, each page of this book will bring a smile or a laugh. If you don't, it is an inside view of each city's similarities and differences.

1.0 out of 5 stars What?
I thought this was a book of writing. It is not. It is a book of bad art and one-liners. I am sending it back and am sorry I have to pay for shipping. Read more

2.0 out of 5 stars very uninspired
Some of the concepts were clever, but the illustrations were lifeless. I really did not feel that it was worth a book--maybe the blog is worth a visit.
