5.0 out of 5 stars Spend the extra money on this set
I have purchased numerous badminton sets over the years and I'm always disappointed. It is typically a hassle to set the net up, the shuttlecocks get stuck in the rackets, and the shuttlecocks fall apart. This set is a HUGE improvement without spending an absolute fortune. We set the net up and were ready to play within 10 minutes of opening the box. It'll be quick...

3.0 out of 5 stars Park & Sun BM-PS Pro Badminton Set
This set is very easy to set up and the poles are substantially heavier than less expensive badminton sets. However, one of the rackets broke the very first time we played. Overall, I do not feel it's worth the extra money. A less expensive set will work just as well.

It'll be quick and easy to take down as needed. We played for 30 minutes last night and not once did a shuttlecock get stuck in the racket. The shuttlecocks have cork on the bottoms and are larger than most cheap shuttlecocks. I'd highly recommend this set. It's worth the extra price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great set for the money!, January 9, 2010

I've been playing badminton on the recreational level for many years, and some in college. I like the sport a lot, and I like good equipment too. I was looking to buy a quality badminton set that would allow for years of use, but I didn't want to spend a fortune either.

This set actually has pretty decent rackets compared to a lot of other sets. Granted, they are not $150 pro rackets, but I haven't ever gotten the birdie "stuck" in any of the rackets yet and there is enough string tension in them to accomplish some fast spikes. I bought a couple extra Yonex rackets expecting that I would need them to replace this set's rackets as they wore out and broke. So far I have not needed them, and I've played many games with friends!

If you are worried about a droopy net, fret not! There are two 3/8 inch ropes that attach to the top of each of the aluminum poles and are individually staked into the ground to set the net tension. I've had my net so tight there may have been a 1/2 inch difference between the center of the net and where it attaches to the pole.

The birdies that come with the set are white and they work pretty well. They are not the best that I've played with, but they are durable and last for quite a while. Their white color makes them harder to see than the bright yellow/green that I'm used to playing with. If you don't like them, buy some quality birdies, they are not that expensive.

The whole set comes in a zip-up black bag and everything fits inside just fine. I'm very glad that they chose to include this as it makes transporting the set very easy.

Overall, I'm very happy with this set. The poles and net are very solid and will last for many years. If you are a VERY aggressive player you may want to buy a separate high quality racket. As for me, the rackets have held up with what I've asked them to do and I'm no slouch when it comes to hitting. I purchased some spare birdies for my set, but I'm still using the ones that came with the set originally.

So if you can swing the money for this set and want something that will serve players of all types for years to come, go ahead and get this set!

5.0 out of 5 stars Durable, easy to set-up, August 30, 2005
This review is from: Pro Badminton Set (Sports)
This is a much, much better set than you'll get from your typical sports dept. store. Though it's pricier, it is sturdy and easy to set-up. The poles are rigid and the guide ropes are good and strong, a decent all-around design. You may want to upgrade the racquets but they are fine for out-of-the-box action.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not a Piece of Crap, August 26, 2008
This review is from: Pro Badminton Set (Sports)
The wife and I host weekly grass Volleyball games. Periodically, for no explicable reason, our non-volleyball playing friends show up. Over the years we've purchased several badminton sets in an effort to keep these friends happy. These cheaper sets are essentially disposable. They tend to fall apart or become hopelessly tangled after a couple uses. We finally decided to spend a little more money and try out the Park & Sun Pro Set. ( We've had posititive experiences with Park & Suns higher end volleyball systems ) The system more than delivered. It was easy to put up, easy to take down and fit back into the carrying bag with out any problem. The system was more than able to handle the abuse rendered when a handful of children used it for a volleyball game, far more wear and tear you would expect in a normal badminton game. I'm not a good judge of what constitutes a good racquet, but they seemed sturdy. I would have given the system 5 stars except for the cheap plastic steaks. These can replaced with a set of metal camping stakes for a few bucks.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not Bad, September 23, 2008
This review is from: Pro Badminton Set (Sports)
Delivery was fast. Net good quality. Rackets medium quality. Shuttle-cocks very cheap quality. I suggest that you automatically buy some spare shuttle cocks. I have used the set for about 3 weeks and 1 racket has broke, not because of abuse, but because of aggressive playing time.

I would rate this as a good buy for the price.

Nice set. Easy to setup and nets and poles and borders are great quality. I have my own racket and use feather birdies so i really didnt care that it came with cheap rackets and birds but everything else was top quality. I play weekly and have had no problems with this set. It would have been nice it they just offered it without the cheap rackets and birdies and charged a lower price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great quality product, November 23, 2008

This set is awesome! Easy setup, easy take down. Metal construction, high quality net. I owned the spaulding stuff before and none of those store bought sets compare to this. Buyer beware the net is short (which is regulation size (I didn't realize how short regulation size is - 5feet or so).

5.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy backyard badminton set, June 27, 2008

Our family plays badminton almost every night after dinner in the summer. This set replaces my previous set that had plastic poles (duct-taped together) and a flimsy net. This has sturdy metal poles and a sturdy net. I would say very good value for the price as it came with 4 racquets, shuttlecocks, and a carrying bag. It seems like it will last a several summer seasons.

I thought this was a lot to pay for a badminton set, but after reading reviews of cheaper options, I figured I'd go for it; I wanted it to last longer than one season! For the most part it's fine, the poles are thick and won't break on you. They're shorter than I thought, but what do I know about professional badminton? They shipped an additional rope to mark your out-of-bounds, which I found unnecessary. My only REAL quibble is with the racquets... the handle of one unwound right after opening, so now that one is covered in duct tape.

Otherwise, fine. Pretty sturdy and I know it will take us into 2011 or 12!
