Incredibly simple and efficient
You could make your own but really this is little more than the cost of a case of beer. It works well. Get a double sided mallet, don't just use a hammer.

Solid tool, won't work on all bikes!
I purchased this product in hopes of removing my headset cups from my 2008 Trek Fuel EX8. This tool will not work for that bike. The shape of the head tube (hourglass) defeats the principle behind how this tool works. I have a video if you want to see on youtube. I will be keeping the tool for my other bikes but be sure it will work on your specific model before spending...
