Product Description

The quotes from our daddies about "the right tool for the job" could go on all day. That said, we ignored their advice and learned all of our lessons the hard way. These days, we appreciate getting a job done with good tools to ensure high quality results. The Park CT-4.2 Master Chain Tool is one of those tools that, once in hand, becomes a favorite. The CT-4.2 is designed to work with all 8,9,10, and 11-speed chains with an "hourglass" side plate profile. This means that it can be used with nearly anything you can get your hands on, be it Campy, Shimano, SRAM, KMC, etc. The investment cast steel body will last a lifetime and the handles are ergonomically shaped to provide comfort. The rivet pin rotates in place so that installations are smooth and precise. The pin is also replaceable should it become worn or damaged. The Park CT-4.2 Master Chain Tool is not compatible with Wipperman chains due to their non-hourglass side plate shape. They simply will not fit into the tool.Fits Dura Ace 7900 asymmetrical chains Integrated Link Pocket for exact chain pin alignment Machined investment-cast body and components for reliability and durability Contoured cushioned handles prevents pinched digits Replaceable rotating pin NOT compatible with Wipperman chains

I purchased this chain breaker to replace the Pedro's Six-Pack mini chain tool I've used for the past few years. I still love the Pedro's, I just wanted something more substantial and easier on the hands for my tool box.
Enter the Park Tool Master Chain Tool.
It's got everything the Pedro's doesnt... a big rubberized grip, an attached spinning knob, even a slick overhang to keep the chain from popping out of alignment while you're centering the pin. OH it also has the weakest pins EVER!
The first time I used my new chain breaker, THE PIN SNAPPED! I had read this in other reviews and I assumed the other reviewers just didn't know what they were doing. After all, I had used a breaker meant for a trail bag for years and never experienced this. SIGH.
Whelp, I bit the bullet and bought the replacement pin set.
Great.
$50 tool. $14 replacement pins. At least I don't have to deal with an allen key like with the $10 Pedro's...
Do yourself a favor and pass on this tool.

This is a really good chain breaking tool.
Very solid in construction except the origanal pin which bent too easily.
I suggest buying replacment pins when buying the tool for convenience.

Well made tool. Easy to use, It was my first chain tool and I was amazed at how simple it is to push the pins out and back in again
without using master links. I would recommend to anyone.

Well worth the price and feels like it would last a lifetime of use.

Though I wish it was intended or approved for campy chains as well.

Maybe it work on campy as well but have not tried it.

Thanks
