5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic comprehensive multi-tool
This multi-tool has all of the tools I use for about 95% of my bike maintenance. I think it hits the sweet spot between lightweight multitools with just a few allen wrenches and the super-heavy ones with chain tools and stuff like that. The wrenches will let you adjust brakes, seat height, and much more. Even comes with spoke wrenches if you desperately need to true a...

2.0 out of 5 stars Comes apart, poorly designed
I've owned this tool and a cheaper Park AWS-10 Mult-tool for about 6 months now. Whenever I run into an issue and need a tool on the trail, I always pick the AWS-10 over this one. I've had significant problems with the MTB-7 tool coming apart as soon as I apply pressure when trying to tighten/loosen a bolt. The pin that holds all of the hex tools together comes loose and...

I think it hits the sweet spot between lightweight multitools with just a few allen wrenches and the super-heavy ones with chain tools and stuff like that. The wrenches will let you adjust brakes, seat height, and much more. Even comes with spoke wrenches if you desperately need to true a wheel as you ride! I keep mind in a pouch below my bike seat, and it's been a pleasant surprise that all of the problems I've hit on the road have been solvable with this tool. Add a frame pump and patch kit, and you're good to go!

2.0 out of 5 stars Comes apart, poorly designed, July 18, 2010

I've owned this tool and a cheaper Park AWS-10 Mult-tool for about 6 months now. Whenever I run into an issue and need a tool on the trail, I always pick the AWS-10 over this one. I've had significant problems with the MTB-7 tool coming apart as soon as I apply pressure when trying to tighten/loosen a bolt. The pin that holds all of the hex tools together comes loose and then the entire tool starts to fall apart into a bunch of washers and pieces. It's a real mess. And, ironically, in order to re-tighten the pin you need one of the hex wrenches that the pin is holding together. So, it's basically impossible?

The design is crappy as it is very hard to separate the 2 pieces and put them back together. (And, you have to remember to put this metal thing over the side you wish to use for additional support when adding a lot of torque. It's nice that it has all of the tools, but it's really not worth the hassle. Every time I use this tool I end up extremely frustrated and the rest of my ride is grumpy. Don't waste your time.

I carry this guy with me when I use the bike. It's been great because it has pretty much all I need in case something happens to the bike. Can't go wrong with Park Tool's.

I've used the park tool mtb-7 for about two weeks, and I can already start to feel it loosening. Do not use a wrench with both parts attached because the thin plastic rib that hold the two parts together will break. Other than maybe shoddy design, the mtb7 was a good cheap purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars Crude but effective, January 8, 2012
This review is from: Park Tool Rescue Tool Kit (Sports)
The construction and design are just tolerable, not up to Park standards. Seems to be a rebranded third party product. I've got a similar Bell multitool (with fewer tools) that is better made, designed, and held together with a magnet (a lot cooler, easier and faster than the sliding metal band in this one). Big pluses: box wrenches (lots of multitools don't have these), a huge stubby hex for tightening cotterless cranks (when you need it, you really need it), and the nylon bag, which is up to Park standards. I don't understand the complaints about not being able to tighten the hex screws that hold the wrenches together with the multitool: far as I know, all tools of this nature are like that. You can slide an extra hex wrench under the band or in the bag if need be. Thank goodness it does NOT have a chain breaker; I have bad luck even with good chain breakers; the small chain breakers that come with some multi tools are asking for trouble. The stubs sticking out of each end are supposed to be used to remove tires, but seem inadequate.

5.0 out of 5 stars You Never Know Until You Need it, September 19, 2011

Recently I was riding out in the country when I had a problem with my brakes. You never know how handy a tool like this is till you need it and don't have it. Unfortunately my ride was ruined for the lack of a wrench and screwdriver, thanks to this tool it won't happen again. This multi-tool is perfect small and easy to carry complete with its own belt case. I'd recommend the product and the service was great, on time and at a price that was easy to swallow.
