Product Description

From the Manufacturer

An obvious clue could be strictly Taboo. To get your team to say pinball, would you say arcade, game, flippers, tilt or roll? In this game you can not because all of those words are strictly Taboo. Rattle off clues while the time counts down. You will ear

I would recommend it to anyone who has family game night or friends over.

Everyone enjoys playing taboo and the buzzer that is pressed when the person says the taboo word makes it all the more exciting and interesting.

The picture of the game box and the items inside does not match with what I received in the mail.

Although I'm not a fan of social games, this one encourages players to creatively communicate. The basics is this: You have a word you need to get someone else to say, but you cannot use the 5 words underneath it to describe it. Because everyone thinks of things differently, it's one that you can play over and over again. Caution though, couples who have been married a long time will have an advantage, so don't let 'em be on the same team :-D.

This is a great 4-person game, in which one person is giving clues, another from the opposite team is watching over his or her shoulder to ensure the clue-giver is not using any of the "taboo" words, his or her partner is guessing, and the other opponent is the time-keeper.

More than four people play in teams, and it's fun to both guess and provide clues, and challenging enough to keep you on your toes and laughing.

My advice for having the most fun and gaining the competitive edge is to personalize your clues. If you use a taboo word and get "buzzed," it's distracting, so it's better to just scan them quickly, so you know what they are, and then use shared experiences and/or preferences. For "spaghetti," when you can't say Italian, pasta, sauce, noodle, meatballs, etc. you mention what your partner had for lunch at Olive Garden, or if you've ever gone to a Revolve Tour or read Chad Eastham: what girls are, if guys are waffles Guys Are Waffles, Girls Are Spaghetti.

The product shown on the image is not what gets shipped to you. The one that's shipped seems to be of poorer quality, available at other places for around $20.

This is false advertisement. Shows you the purple version (older/better I believe) yet you pay $10 more. Save your money.

I purchased the game for Christmas. We took it to our skiing trip & played it with a group of 12 people. Everyone had a lot of fun even the kids like it and played the game throughout the whole trip. I would highly recommend this game to everyone!

The Taboo shown in the picture is NOT the one that I received. It's for a friend therefore I did not open it but I do hope that it's still the same good one as the original (in the picture)

I originally discovered this game earlier last year when my friend brought it out for all of us to play. At that time it was two groups of friends being introduced to each other so not all of us were familiar. The game really helped us get out of being shy and before we knew it, we were cracking up on the floor. On a more educational note, I think it provides a great challenge of trying to pull out the right words to describe what was on the card. A lot of us had difficulties at some time, especially the men.

This updated version of Taboo has updated, current words not yet in the lexicon upon the first release of Taboo years ago. Still the same old game and still a lot of fun.
