This game is really fun, great for a group. It would have been infinitely better if there were a way to add more words to its dictionary though - an expansion slot, with add-on packs would have been a great idea.

As-is it's fun, but just doesn't have enough words. I took it on a camping trip and it was fun for 2 hours, until we ran out of new words. For $10 it's great. For its regular price of $25-30, not so much.

We have given this toy as gifts and played with it with many friends and everybody has appreciated and enjoyed playing with it. We have an older version and a new one. The older one has easier words but the buttons were not labeled well. The newer version has more phrases so it is a little more difficult but the problem is that the tiny electronic screen is hard to see unless the machine is held right in front of you. This does prevent your neighbors on either side "accidentally" seeing the word or phrase. The buttons on the new one are very clearly marked so mistakes don't happen. The older one had a voice that would announce the score of each team and at the end would exclaim "team 1 (or 2) wins!". The new one just displays this information on the previously mentioned tiny screen. Overall this is a game that is well worth having at home.

Catch Phrase is so much fun that I bought one for our family. We have been very disappointed. After playing it a total of about 4 hours, we appear to have used up all the word choices. It has started back through the same word lists. I bought an electronic one thinking that certainly it would have a boundless supply of new words, that's not the case! For a game that costs close to $30, 4 hours of playing time before the new words are used up is a rip off in my mind.

Our family has enjoyed the Junior Version of Catch Phrase so we decided to move up to the adult version. Overall it is a fun game as described by others. We played the adult version last night for the first time. I was disappointed that it really only has a limited number of words and phrases and relatively quickly we were seeing repeats, especially when we were only playing in one category. When you see a repeat you either skip past it (often to see more repeats) or use a word that all the players are already familiar with. I would have thought that in today's world of electronics they could have included many many more word/phrase options.

We used to play the card version and there were way more clues then this new version, and they come out in the same order every time if you can believe that. If they are going to take the time to make it electronic, I think they should have put a lot more clues and they should be randomized. 1000 may sound like a lot, but two rounds through each category and you've been through them all. Great game while it lasts, but c'mon Parker Brothers, don't skimp next time!!

We bought this to add to our game collection and played in for about two hours one game night... We laughed and had a great time until all the words started repeating! I'd expect to get more than two hours of playtime out of a game before all the clues have been done. The game is fun and is great if your either not going to play very often, not going to play for very long periods of time, or have a really bad memory and can forget the words you've already done...

I love this game! The words are lit up so even my older relatives can see them and makes a great game for around the campfire. It's a perfect size to bring to a friends house and simple to use buttons.

There appear to be two versions of this item for sale on Amazon. This review is specifically for item 05712. First, the product packaging I received did not look like the photo provided by "Dwight". It was identical to the first two photos provided by Amazon.
This product has the lit display. There is notation on the front that says "Class 1 LED product". This helps indicate which of these versions has the illuminated display.
We've owned three of these. We've taken it to friend's houses to play and often end up leaving it with them since they love it so much. Once we've played this one a few times I'll post again if we find any "phrases for 2009" as the description indicated.
As for the repeated phrases, yes, we've seen a couple of repeats but with different players involved in the game the way people give different clues makes it nearly impossible to know if it's a repeat or a new phrase. You'll love this game.
Our 7 year old enjoys it as much as our 60+ relatives.

This game is very fun to play. It really gets you laughing and if you take it too seriously, very frusterated with your teammates. We played this at Christmas for about an hour before the machine started repeating itself. We used all the categories and the same answers kept popping up. So it's really only fun for the first hour...

This is a fun game for a large group of people. It brings out different aspects of people you thought you knew. Some sit there and are tongue tied, while others just start describing. If you try to label which players will do which before you start playing, I think you'll be surprised by the results.

We did find it more difficult to play with a group of adults and young teens, since the young teens were not as familiar with all the phrases, but I think it would be good for a wide age range of adults.
