Fast Paced, try the electronic version,

This is a good game, even if people are not too focused or are slghtly inebriated. I have played both the card version and the electronic version. Both are fine, but I prefer the electronic version. It is self-contained in one unit, the words are larger and easier to read. The card version words are tiny and can be hard to read, even with the magnifying lense.

One of the best games ever,

My whole family rented a cabin for Thanksgiving '05 and a cousin brought this game. At first I was like "I don't want to play it sounds stupid." They convinced me and I am happy they did. We got up to like 12 people playing and had the best time during our stay playing this game. It's so fun to try and get your team to say the word before the buzzer. After a while I had a rythm with a couple of my family members and we were getting really good at guessing eachothers words. This game could last forever. We played it for 4 hours nonstop on one of the nights. If you play, get alot of people. It's fun with a couple, but it's soooo much better with 10 or so people. And switch up the teams every once in a while to keep things fresh

BUY IT - You , family and friends will love it,

I bought this game for my 15 year old daughter; her friends can't get enough; her older brothers always made her bring the game to every family function to play until we bought them their own; it is so much fun and has brought out the laughs so many times; well worth the money and is played over and over and over - you won't be disappointed. Best investment for family fun and memories and we have had some classics from our family time with this game. It always follows dessert! put the dishes away and get ready to play catch phrase. All of my older children's friends (in their 20's and plus) have now gone out to purchase their own - the more the merrier; just expand the teams and pass it on for fun fun fun.

Catch Phrase Will Blow You Away,

If you've ever seen Pyramid the game show, you'll already know how to play, almost. In this game, you divide into two teams and sit every other team member in a circle. One person starts with the gadgetmerbobber, and a word is given, like "France". You've got to get your partner(s) to say it without saying it starts with F, rhymes with pants, or any part of the word! Quick! Pass it, your partner got it. Once the timer goes off, points are awarded. A great game for the whole family! Only one downside, the cards don't last as long as you'd like, so you'll have to purchase more, and there are ordering instructions along with the game.

Whether old or young, cold or hot ouside, sober or intoxicated, day time or night time, if you have 3 or more people together, than you have instant fun with this game. This version with the paper card that rotates through the push button clue device has got to be the most durable thing ever created. When this game gets going, people get to hitting, punching, and tossing this as fast as they can. Once you start this game, you can't stop. Well worth the investment, you will get your money's worth. Enjoy

Why not try the electronic version?,
This review is from: Catch Phrase! (Toy)
Hey -- I've never played this 'card-based' version, but I've played the electronic version many, many times. It's just one gadget that displays the word and is the timer. You pass the gadget when your team guesses correctly. the team who is left holding the gadget when the timer goes loses. It even keeps track of the score.
For those of you who have exhausted the cards and don't want to keep buying more might find the electronic version to your liking. (Just search 'catch phrase' here on Amazon). Regardless, this game is alot of fun and really easy to teach new players how to play.

catch phrase electronic vs. disks,

So, I've played both the electronic and the disk version, and have been wanting to buy my own for a while. I've seen the e-version in stores everywhere, but its been hard to find the disk version in the brink and mortar's. In my opinion, the e-version is easier to read, and if you are traveling with a large group, its probably what you want. But the 'click' in the game on the disk version is much more satisfying to me, and with very little effort you can write up your own disks to put in it; so if you are taking it to a party, you can write up disks that would suit the occasion. (Think "inside jokes" among a group of friends, or as a party game for baby or bridal showers) This is also a plus if you play the game a lot, and believe me, its hard not to! I do not know if the e-version has a feature to let you add words, but even if it does, it would probably just throw though those words in randomly with all the preprogrammed words, so you'd have no control over when those phrases came up.

Catch Phrase,

This is an awesome game ! The first time I played it was at a "game night". The hostess invited TONS of people. Turns out only a few people showed up and and she had her kids there too. (not a bad thing, just unexpected) Ages ranged from 16-40. What started out as 6 people staring at each other, turned out to be hours of fun. I laughed so hard I cried. It is an effortless game to play, and no parts and pieces to keep track of.

Our all adult gathering on new years day 1999 was a total blast with Catch Phrase. My quiet, stodgy 56 year old brother-in-law actually jumped out of his chair and almost said a bad word while he laughed and giggled! We stayed up LATE learning a lot about each other. Great fun!

We played this game over the Thanksgiving holiday with family members ranging in age from 7 to 60. We had two teamswith as few as 3 people on a team to sometimes as many as 7 per team. It was a blast. When the words were too hard for the youngest we just quickly passed the disk to the next one on our team, or someone on the other team gave them a quick clue as to what the word was. We couldn't get enough of the game. It makes you think fast and learn some things about those around you as they throw clues at you. Our son's girlfriend who is 17 always got the words that had to do with reproduction. It was a riot. I would highly recommend this one.
