Kids Get to Show What They Know!,

This review is from: Outburst Junior (Board Game)
I have had "Outburst Junior" sitting on my game shelf for many years now. My kids are grown now, but recently I had some young visitors and remembering all the hours of fun we had with this game in years past(It's still in great shape), I thought it would be a great way to keep these youngsters entertained. And it was! The object is to try and YELL out as many items in a specific catagory, as you can think of in a limited amount of time. The kids loved this as they got to show off what they knew and use their "outside voices" as well! In the edition I have(hopefully it is still the same), there are cards picked at random that decide the catagories, there is one side for kids subjects(name the 7 dwarves etc, and the other side of the card is for the adults and the subjects are of course a little harder. So there's a level playing field, the kids can compete with you and you DON'T have to let them win. It's fun, a great break from TV and video games, and it makes them THINK! Even if their just playing against other kids, they'll enjoy it.I would definitly reccomend this for school age kids and their parents.Have fun....Laurie

We LOVE this game! We have two boys (ages 7 and 10) and this is one of the few games that we all seem to enjoy because both boys can be successful but it's interesting and challenging for adults too. Nobody whines when we suggest turning off the TV to play!

There is nothing better (at times at least ) than a game that the whole family enjoys playing. Our 8-year old and 6-year old love to play this game with us and it helps the youngest's reading, counting (on the board) and knowledge for both of them. The only problem is our youngest who is 3 1/2 wants to play and she is a bit too young and winds up getting frustrated and frustrating us all in turn. A nice small game to bring on vacation and even play in the car or airplane - for all ages (the youngest ones need to be on a team with someone older and the older ones need patience.) Fun!

This fast-paced game is so much fun, who'd of thought it would be educational too? It is a game that both parents and kids can find challanging. Players take turns trying to come up with 10 words that fit in a particular category before time runs out. Children with a high vocabulary do best, I think, because it can be frustrating at times.

My 12 year old daughter loves playing this game with our family. The only problem is we have played so much that we know all of the cards. They should make a booster box of cards like some other games have.

I love this game! Sometimes I just give topics to my sister and she has to name how many she can think of in only one minute. It's a lot of fun!!! Everyone should try out this game!!

This is a Wonderful game. not only is it fun, but you can learn a lot. I have also found that even a couple of my friends who are slightly younger than me have fun too. My parents like it too. So basically, it has levels of hardness for everyone but can go light on the smaller kids. My only concern is that in the future, me and my friends will run out of cards and get sick of the game. Overall, the game is a blast to play.

When my daughters were growing up, they loved this game. When I started teaching ESL (English as a Second Language) both locally and overseas, I found this game to be a very useful learning and review tool for teaching vocabulary, as well as lots of fun for the learners! The only thing is I needed to select the cards carefully because some are so culturally related that my immigrant or foreign students wouldn't have the knowledge. I have searched for this game at large stores near Christmas and haven't found it in years. I'm glad to find it at Amazon!

The game worked very well for 9-14 year olds. We've only played it once. 7 year old on down didn't hold interest as well. It might go better the more we play it. I am happy with the purchase.
