For more than 50 years, beginning before reporters carried tape recorders, I've used the same Parker fountain pen during hundreds of newspaper interviews. I without paralysis of thumb and index finger because fountain pens skim across the surface of notepaper like an Olympic ice skater. My venerable Parker has recorded the words of John F. Kennedy, Billy Graham, a couple of popes and other headline-prone folks. It becomes harder and harder to buy a bottle of fountain pen ink. When I couldn't find any close to home I tried Amazon, and had my ink within 48 hours. It is great ink, and the service is worth writing home about.

Good ink. Writes smooth and flow is good. Great for use in taking notes or writing temporary messages.

If you are filling out important documents, signing contracts, writing checks, or anything that needs archival quality ink (won't fade with time and weather), you will need to use "Noodler's Bulletproof Black."

Parker Quink Ink is NOT permanent - not for important writing. The ink does wash away and is easily removed with a little effort.

Great for:
- Notes
- Handwritting Practice
- Temporary messages

Bad for:
- Checks
- Contracts
- Legal papers
- Archival papers (journals and records)
- Wet environments
- Mailing envelops

After > 30 years of exclusively blue ink, I took the big step and tried black :-) This ink glides smoothly with both my Parker and Waterman pens. Almost gel like. Drys fast, and is really black. Its exactly what I expected. Recommended.

I have been using "Super Quink with Solv-X" for 45 years. I still have a bottle of Blue-Black Super Quink: it is a beautiful deep blue black; and the pen just glides across the page. The color of the ink is now a cheap and ugly blue-gray and the pen no longer glides. The color of the ink fades as it dries, if this is in common with Pelikan's Konigsblau/RoyalBlue then it will keep its color on acidic papers but fade on alkaline or buffered papers.

After doing a bit of digging it seems that this isn't Parker's Super Quink ink, instead it is Waterman's ink from France. The change was made in 2009 or so [?]. The bottle doesn't say "Super Quink" or "Solv-X", just "Quink". SQ w/ S-X was made in Wisconsin, then in Ottawa Canada, then in England and now [not]made in France.

I'd say, don't bother with it. Waste of money.

Finding quality ink for fountain pens not an easy task these days -- except on Amazon that is! I have both Mont Blanc, Schaeffer and Parker fountain pens but while I like the Mont Blanc bottles I prefer the Parker ink so I funnel the Parker ink into the Mont Blanc bottles to get the benefit of both. No it is not a vanity issue as the bottle sits in my desk drawer! What I like is that the Mont Blanc bottles tip to fill a reservoir that is slanted to allow for easy filling. But the Parker ink has a lubricant and cleaner that I find is better for my pens. While checking on a new pen for my son I ran across a tip which I have tried and will pass on here. That tip was to use a diluted solution of household ammonia and water once a year to clean your fountain pen. I had a couple of older pens I do not use regularly and they had ink built up on them. Ran through this solution a few times and came out very clean and now function quite well.

Parker Quink is a great ink for everyday writing. It is cheap, legible, and has never clogged in a pen of mine to date.

The blue-black color won't "wow" you, but it is easy to read when poring back over notes. It starts off as a rather dark blue, and dries slightly lighter, with a blue-green-grey look. Interesting to note is that it is in no way "blue-black." More of an off blue than anything.

The resulting look brings to mind the memo pad of a 1940s journalist, or perhaps the color Dagwood Bumstead wrote with before he sold out and went all ballpoint. It is an everyman color that gets the job done without being offensive, like a Honda, or a ham and cheese sandwich with mustard for lunch.

Fairly, this product should get less stars for being so misleading about the whole "blue-black" thing. The color somehow grows on you anyway, though. I use this ink more often than any other. It also gets bonus points for being so very reliable.

Also, the bottle is a well built, stubby little thing with a cap that feels and behaves like... the ever coveted Bakelite! I don't think it is actual bakelite, but it definitely isn't normal PVC.

On a final note, this ink is now exactly the same as Waterman blue-black. Both Parker and Waterman are owned by Rubbermaid, and the original Parker color has been thrown to the wayside in favor of this one. Therefore, this review extends to Waterman Blue-Black as well. Amazon sells both, so buy whichever is cheapest per milliliter.

I have been using Quink for Parker fountain pens (for those of you who know what they are) since 1953! It must be the same forumla. It's the same color, what they used to call "midnight blue" or "blue black." It flows and dries quickly.

I still have four Parker fountain pens, and I wouldn't use anything but Quink in them. As for those who don't think it's "permanent," try getting it out of a white shirt!
