Excellent Performances, May 4, 2007
More and more I'm loving Bird's post-Diz work. This is a perfect example. Bird's playing is even smoother and tighter than his performances in '45-47. In this album, he's helped admirably by Miles, who is not nearly the virtuoso Diz was, but who adds a note of calm and even a bit more harmonic sophistication. The keyboards are wonderful, too. Definitely a recommended purchase for anyone who loves classic bebop.
