ParliaMix....,

...this is the original Casablanca Records production of P Funk'sgreatest hits, it came before their Casablanca Records phabuloso phunkay swansong "Trumpbibulation" (which is a no holds barred production I wish they'd bring back) and Funkadelic's "Electric Spanking of War Babies". You can probably find this in vinyl somewheres like Amazon's z-shops or [another internet retailer]. It is about an hour of wall to wall phunk. The cuts I don't care for are the newer cuts, "Aqua Boogie" and "Theme From the Black Hole", but one can see how they fit into the ParliaUniverse and the overall scheme of things. I call it Parliamix in that you can put the CD on and let it ride, no muss, no fuss, mo phunk. It is not spozed to be for the diehards out there, just the casual listener and the bootay shakers. A bit like music for your Momma, but with a wink, wink. For mine, the low keyed "Chocolate City" and "P-Funk" is worth the 12 dollar pricetag on this...sure there's many others collections out there. But you figure the average customer ain't pristine purists and over the top collectors--they are evvyday folks who want to just jam evvy now and then. This will help them fit the bill.

The Bomb is a bomb (not the best of...),

I bought this CD when it came out in the early 1990s. Most of the tracks on this CD are edited / cut, probably for radio air play. If you want a Parliament Greatest Hits CD, purchase "20th Century Masters - The Millennium Collection: The Best of Parliament" on Island / Mercury label. It contains virtually the same list of songs, and nearly every track is 3 or 4 minutes longer (the original album edits). Plus the digitally re-mastered sound is spectacular.

Historic Funk Music On One CD,

Parliament's Greatest Hits may not have cuts from every P-Funk album, but most of the songs that George Clinton's crew is known for are on here.
Songs like Flash Light, Aqua Boogie, Mothership Connection and others are the main ones that funk lovers moved and grooved to back in the day, and even now. There is a lot of other funk out there, but P-Funk was some of the first funk, and definitely some of the best. Parliament's Greatest Hits is a great buy for any true funk lover.

An excellent but incomplete compilation.,

The order in which the songs are presented is what makes this one of the best Parliament compilations. It does a great job of showing how their music evolved from Up For The Downstroke to Gloryhallastoopid (Or Pin The Tail On The Funky). Unfortunately, it doesn't have any songs from Trombipulation and the liner notes leave a lot to be desired. This is what makes Best Of Parliament (Give Up The Funk) worth considering as an alternative. If this had Let's Play House after Theme From The Black Hole and more liner notes, complete with pictures, I would have given this five stars and called it a must have. Since it doesn't, I recommend comparing it to Best Of Parliament (Give Up The Funk) and making a personal decision on which one you want to get. They're both great PFunk compilations. Good luck.

A good intro to the world of P-Funk,

This CD is a good intro for new listeners, as well as a greatest hits compiliation for older fans as well. It is lacking a few tracks...Testify, etc. All and all, a good CD but not a great one.
