I also thought this charger was fantastic.
Ufortunately it died suddenly in the middle
of my second gardening season. There is no
way to fix it (sealed, no fuses) and it is
just past warranty period. I guess you get
what you pay for...I expect a good quality
charger to last at least 10 years, not just
over one year!

This charger did not last one year. The box is sealed, so if it blew a fuse, you can't replace it. It worked fine for about 9 months, then one day it just stopped. Troubleshooting was time consuiming, the entire system all works fine--except the charger. This is an expensive item, I would have expected long life--instead I just got taken! Purchase at your own risk!

I have been extremely impressed with this charger so far. It is strong and very portable. I am using it right now to charge pastured poultry netting and it is doing an excellent job. It is a great value as it is comparible to imported models twice the price. American made! Will buy more of them in the future.

I purchased my first Parmak DC fence charger this Spring to see how it would work, then bought two more a few months later. The key to this product's usefulness is the voltage meter on its face. It tells me at a glance if there is a problem with the fence, and is super reliable. I thought I might have to be charging the battery every couple of weeks, especially if the fence got grounded, but even a dead short didn't significantly diminish the battery charge. I love to see the meter showing 10,000 volts! I use the fence chargers mainly to keep my cattle from riding the pasture fences that border cropland (particularly corn), and even use one to keep the deer and other varmints from eating my garden tomatoes. I'm done with other chargers!

This product is working very good so far. I've only had it installed and operating for a few weeks now. Its been through a few rain storms and seems just fine. We had to install some clamps on the cord provided so we could hook it to the car battery we are using, but other than that it is working fine.
