5.0 out of 5 stars little or no misfires
My son loves his cap gun and these ring-caps are great. Good quality caps with little or no misfires. Twelve shot ring-caps are not an easy thing to find, I'm glad I found these.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed
I read some of the other reviews on this site and figured these would be loud caps as people said. They are not. The gun fire sounds only mariginally louder with the caps than without. Pretty lame. This was a present from my daughter to my son - paid with her own (7 year old) money. They were both pretty disappointed.

These caps are so quiet that they barely make any more noise than the sound of the cap gun itself. I wasn't even sure they were firing except for the faint puff of smoke when you pull the trigger. I've had better luck buying the super cheap 8 shot cap rings from the drug store and cutting the ring so that I can fit them into my son's 12 shot cap gun. These are worthless. (BTW, these are the second round of these typs of caps I've bought by this manufacturer from different sellers. Neither were any good.)

These caps are as load as the ones I remember as a kid. Many of the caps today hardly even pop. These actually do make a decent noise and have yet to have a misfire.

12 shot rings are hard to find. And when you do find them they are not so loud, don't always work and are generally not as fun as the ones thirty years ago. These are the exceptions.

These caps work every time, they are loud.

We buy caps from this company every time when given a choice.

Old review:
We bought my son a very nice, authentic-looking Western pistol at a history-themed park, and it takes this type of caps. The park wanted a silly, high price for additional caps, so when we got home, we checked Amazon, ordered these, they are the exact same brand and type but lower in price. Delivery was prompt, product fine.

Update July 2010:
We last bought these about two years ago and they were great. I am re-ordering now but yesterday when we went back to the same Western park where we first got the cowboy gun and these caps, both the "same" guns and "same" caps were different due to new laws, probably due to some lawsuit. The revolvers' cylinders now have solid plastic inside them to prevent any sparks from coming out (never saw any from the old gun with an open cylinder...), which makes the guns much more quiet. The ring caps, same brand and such, but now in brownish plastic rather than the old red, have also been changed, reportedly due to some new law which no doubt is due to one person doing something dumb and launching a lawsuit so millions of others who were doing fine can't get hurt, and the new caps yesterday at the park were, as reported in user reviews here, barely audible, the mechanical noise of the gun is literally louder and only the smell of burnt gunpowder tells you that anything happened!! Very pathetic. But, we are out of caps and I have to re-order, we'll see if we get old/red/suitably noisy and perfectly safe caps or the new/brown/totally pointless ones. Two scoops says it'll be the new ones, based on "recent reviews".

Some lawsuits make sense and are necessary to make manufacturers be reasonably responsible, but these changes strike me as silly and unwarranted and completely obviate the whole purpose of the product. I mean, what's next, dark/invisible fireworks? Drown-proof, dry water? Dinner knives that can't cut melted butter? (sigh) What a shame.

1.0 out of 5 stars Believe the reviews & DON"T buy these caps!, December 27, 2010

Ok- I read the reviews and the vast majority of them said these caps were bad. Person after person warned about how bad these were. But, then I found these for sale elsewhere & a review there said that these identical caps were actually quite good. So, I thought about it & decided to try it, hoping that perhaps these caps were better than what some people had said- against my better judgement. THESE CAPS ARE HORRIBLE! My six year old son couldn't wait to try them out. Slipped the first ring into his gun and pulled the trigger. Pathetic. The gun was actually quieter with the caps in it than it was with nothing in it at all. The plastic ring caps actually muffle the sounds of the gun. Don't buy these things. They really are a waste of money.

These are the weakest sounding caps I have ever had. Granted, I have not purchased caps for at least 20 years. Still...I expected to hear significant a difference between firing my authentic looking old west pistols with or without the caps loaded. +1 star because the 12 shot rings fit the pistols. -3 stars because they are so weak, they didn't even scare the neighbor's cat!

5.0 out of 5 stars LOUDNESS DEPENDS ON YOUR CAP GUN, August 6, 2011
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars

I bought two 12 ring cap guns. The first, from Italy, is always loud, each shot. The next one, from spain, has a less strong spring for the hammer, and sometimes the caps go off with a slight bang. A pufff. If I pull the trigger fast sometimes it is loud. These caps are almost always loud in the Italian gun. So I guess it depends if your gun has a strong spring.
The Spanish gun is the Doc Holiday gun by Parris. The Italian gun is "11 Inch Metal Antique Style Revolver (Italian Made)".

Boooooom!

I bought this from my son for christmas because I needed 12 shot caps. Luckily I got them on sale because the only way he could tell they went off was to smell the smoke. Really irriating that the higher reviews are listed first, I don't know what the other reviewers were thinking unless they were paid to write a good comment.
