At a time when legislation is tightening up to restrict the use of mobile phones in vehicles due to safety concerns, the Parrot 3400's benefits are not just for the sake of convenience and comfort -- they are fast becoming a real necessity. As with all Parrot car-kit devices, the 3400 LS-GPS offers the user seamless, hands-free use without the inconvenience of wires, headsets, or cradles.

The LCD color display screen of the 3400 LS-GPS provides the same visual information and functions as your mobile phone, such as caller ID, carrier signal strength, or last calls received, on a large, well-contrasted display that's easy to read at a glance. The display sports 160 x 128 pixels, supports 262,144 colors, and features adjustable brightness and contrast. There's even a customized color interface with wallpapers.

Using the Parrot 3400 LS-GPS is simple. Turn on the car engine and the device synchronizes wirelessly with your phone. This allows it to not only display your phone book, but the photos you have set to correspond to certain incoming callers, as well as enabling voice recognition so you can make hands-free calls. Depending on your phone's model and firmware, most features are accessible from the hands free console, including one-touch redial, dual call, and auto-answer.

The Parrot 3400 LS-GPS makes navigation as easy as placing and receiving phone calls by constantly sending your vehicleÂ’'s position to your Smartphone or PDA. Any routes you have programmed in are calculated by your PDA and its navigation software -- such as Route 66, ViaMichelin, Tom Tom, and Orange -- and directions are transmitted back to you through the vehicleÂ’'s speakers. You can just sit back and let your car, via your Parrot 3400 LS-GSP, tell you exactly where you are, and where you need to go.

The kit can be installed in almost any vehicle, and it's designed to automatically mute the radio while you are on the phone. Incorporating high-quality sound, the Parrot 3400 LS-GPS features echo cancellation, full duplex sound, voice recognition for up to 150 names, and hi-fi polyphonic ringtones. And when you have multiple drivers in the same car, the unit allows for up to five mobile phones to register, each with separate address book synchronization. This unit also features the ability to update the control module without having to remove it from your car.

The LCD screen and keypad on the Parrot 3400 LS-GPS measures 64 x 58 x 20 mm (H x W x D), weighs 60 grams, and comes with a one-year warranty. Note this car-kit will not work in cars that use optical cabling. Check with your car dealer before ordering. Also, since this car-kit is installed by hard-wiring to the existing car stereo, professional installation is highly recommended.

The CK3400 LS GPS model works very good. It is easy to connect to, has a good microphone, voice recognition, and various options. It did everything as the Parrot web site said it would except for one thing. We tesed it with several phones and they all worked great. But then we tested it with a Palm 750 which is running Windows Mobile 5.0, just like soem of the other phones we tested. But this phone did not sync any contacts at all and made it very hard to use. It would still allow you to talk and answer phone calls but you could not dial from your contacts. There is a manual sync option to do one contact at a time but that is just ridiculous for how much you pay for this Parrot and the Palm itself.

We have had lots of trouble with the bluetooth ever since installing it ( which was very complicated). Dialing a number using the dial is not convenient at all.
