This review is from: Parrot Digital Messaging Switch Plate - As Seen on TV
I use these for two things. I record a message/ short song for my daughter so she can turn it on in the night when she is scared or just wants to hear me. It is very easy to change and re-record and the batteries last a long time. I don't have that one mounted to a light switch because you can just push the play back button so it isn't needed. The other one is for my other daughter. I recorded her favorite song and she is learning cause and effect by pushing the button or flipping the switch to hear her song. I don't know what other people would use them for but I really like having them. If they were a little cheaper, and my daughter was a little farther along in learning, I would buy more for my handicapped child and put a picture with each one with the recorded word so she could flip the switch to tell me what she wants. My two complaints are that there is a mildly loud shut-off sound when the recording ends and when I sing, I have to sing lower than normal to avoid the really bad digitized voice that comes in the playback of higher notes. All in all though it is a very good product and very easy to install on a working light switch if that is what you want. You can also install it on a cheap light switch that you just stick in the wall and don't hook it up to any wires if that works better for your purpose, or you can screw it straight into the wall with no switch or a thin L-bracket or some other switch substitute and then you don't have to put any extra holes in the wall to accommodate a light switch.
