Put Yo Hood Up,
By B-More Reviewer "The One and Only Eric" (Baltimore, Maryland) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Part II [CD & DVD Video] (Audio CD)
Lil Jon has been the reason why the Dirty South has blown up and has taken over. He's helped artists like Youngbloodz, Usher, Bone Crusher, Ying Yang Twins, Pitbull, Ludacris and even more gain commerical success. This album is filled with remixes and some material. The major single off the album "Get Low Remix" features up and coming Elephant Man, Busta Rhymes and of course the Ying Yang Twins. The next song is the "Get Low Merengue Remix" which was featured on the music video at the end. "Get Your Weight Up" features the Dirty South's finest of T.I. and 8ball. "Throw It Up Remix" is was feeling a lot with Young Buck and Pastor Troy which runs for about 6 minutes. The best song on the album IMO is "Put Yo Hood Up Remix" with Jadakiss, Petey Pablo & Roy Jones Jr who saids some things in the beginning of the song to get things hyped. Jadakiss owned this track and I can't even stop listening to his part and Chyna Whyte came strong too. "What They Want" is a club hit with Chyna Whyte and Ying Yang Twins. The beat reminds me of the Youngbloods "Damn" if you listen closely. The last track is a song with Oobie called "Dirty Dancin". The DVD features music videos such as Get Low, Play No Games, Bia Bia, etc.
This is an exceptional extras album by the King Of Crunk Lil Jon. You can pick the album up even if its just for the videos.

Get Low RMX (TRACK 1) IS INSANE!!!!,

I gotta admit, the Reggae Mix of "GET LOW" (TRACK 1) is by far one of the baddestass productions I've heard. Get ready to turn it up to LVL 10 and let this track BUMP. Skip TRACK 2, (merenge mix) its an abortion and I hope Lil Jon doesn't continue to try to mix the latin groove anymore. The other tracks make good listening, THROW IT UP RMX (TRACK 4) scores a 4 out of 5 stars. The real star of this cd is the INCLUDED DVD. I mean, for 11 bones, a dvd and a rmx cd, DON'T BE A FOOL! GET LOW!!!! GET LOW....GET LOW...GET LOW

Lil John returns with an EP to keep us interested until the next crunk album arrives ( like he wasn't on everything anyway!). This little EP contains 4 remixes and 3 new songs: 2 Get Low remixes, Throw It Up rmx, and the Put Yo Hood Up rmx, as well as the Eightball & TI collaboration Get Your Weight Up ( off the chain ), singer protégé Oobie contributes `Dirty Dancin', and rapper protégé Chyna White contributes What They Want. Oobie is actually a pretty good artist because every song I've heard her on is bumping and this is no exception. Chyna White sheds her previous wackness status on her song, and surprisingly drops some nice lyrics....not enough to actually purchase her album but I'm anxious to see what else she can do. But the Get Low Merengue mix is HANDS DOWN THE WORST SONG they have EVER done. It is so wack. I didn't think they had a wack song bone in their bodies but this ranks up there as one of the worst songs I've ever heard. The added DVD is the real haymaker though as it features six of their videos and some behind the scenes stuff...a great addition...and for only 6 greenbacks this EP is well worth the buy. 4 stars for the EP and 5 for the DVD.

After winning the #1-song-played-to-the-ground award for "Get Low", Lil Jon and the East Side Boyz came up with the idea to remix the song...TWICE! Then drop an EP with a DVD of the music videos that they've made and call it Part II with unbalanced results.
The CD is only seven tracks. As I said earlier, there are two remixes of "Get Low". One version has Elephant Man and Busta Rhymes as well as The Ying Tang Twins. The other is the "Merengue" remix featuring Pitbull. Elephant Man's voice is herd all throughout the song, making it unbearable, but Busta Rhymes saves it from being terrible. The "Merengue Remix" sounds like rejected opening song for a gameshow, and to top it off the fact that The Ying Yang Twins and Lil Jon try to rhyme to the salsa beat makes you laugh. Think of this song as pure entertainment and thats it. "Get Your Weight Up" and "Put Your Hood Up" are the two best songs that are on here. The latter would feature Jadakiss, Peety Pablo, Chyna White, and Roy Jones Jr., that gurantees to rock many clubs. "Throw It Up (Remix)" is better than the origonal because Young Buck makes an apparance, even through Pastor Troy's wack rhymes still inhabit. Chyna White gets her own song with the Ying Yang Twins on "What They Want". I'm used to hearing her make a guest appearances on Lil Jon songs (Bia Bia, Put Yo Hood Up remix), but hearing her voice can be unbarable and annoying especially on this track, not to mention the Ying Yang Twins don't make much help. Oobie has a nice voice to sing on some songs ("Ooh Naa Naa Na Na" for example), but the production behind "Dirty Dancing" just doesn't work and comes off skippable. Theres really nothing to knock about the DVD because it has almost every music video that has been shot, eventhough I have no care for some of them. The only song it doesn't have is the "Get Low (Remix)" for some of you people wanting to see it. Other than that you get to see the 'behind the scenes' work of their Kings Of Crunk projects. Ain't really anyting special. Overall this EP full of remixes and the DVD are mostly good for what it is. Most of the songs on the CD are pointless remixes, and unthoughtout songs, but the DVD would be the only thing that many people are looking for when buying this. If you own this, good for you, but if you don't I recommend that you wait until this hits the bargin bin at your music store. If you're a big Lil Jon fan or you just want to see the music videos, I recommend this for you. The album itself [2.5 stars] The DVD [3.5 Stars] Lyrics: C+ Production: C- Guest Appearances: C Musical Vibes: D+ Overall: C- Standout Tracks: Get Your Weight Up and Put Yo Hood Up

This is Lil Jon's good album, not best. Kings of Crunk was the best. This album features a great track, Get Low Remix. This features Ying Yang Twins, Busta Rhymes, and Elephant Man. The video is kinda a spoof on Run DMC's video with Aerosmith, Walk This Way. It is good. You gotta get it!

The CD has some good remixes which most fans will undoubtably have from other sources, but they all bang nonetheless and are good to have together. The real selling point for this CD, at least to me, was the videos. The videos for "Get Low", "Bia Bia", "Put Yo Hood Up", "I Like Dem Gulz" & "I Don't Give A F****" are included along with a dope behind the scenes featuring Lil' Jon drunk and acting like the crocodile hunter along with a bunch of other footage of Lil' Jon generally acting like the rock star that he is. Its honestly worth it for just the "Bia Bia" and "I Don't Give A F****" videos, which are both chaotic classics that should be in every collection.
