Among other characteristics, a good quality olive oil has its expiration date on the package. Experts say that after two years or so olive oil starts losing many of its healthy properties. Always look for either the expiration date or the harvest date. If that basic information is not on the package, avoid it. Chances are you are buying a low quality olive oil. Partanna olive oil does display its expiration date on the package. It is not a blend of extra virgin olive oils (blend of oils are OK though). Rather, Partanna is made from Nocellara del Belice olives, which renders this oil a subtle taste to the palate. Partanna is certainly a recommended brand.

A very good, all-purpose EVOO from Sicily, at a good price. And BTW, in reference to another review of this product, not all olive oil is "peppery." Many Sicilian oils in fact are not. If you want that type, Tuscan olive oil would be a better choice.
