In today's work climate, there is an increased focus on cooperation, innovation, commitment, and increased participation in problem solving. Participative leadership calls on all employees to be part of the decision-making process, and encourages supervisors to focus on planning, innovating, and facilitating teamwork.
Born in RI into a family of eight, I graduated from Cranston High East and Rhode Island College. I taught dance and English at the Gordon School in East Providence before moving to Pennsylvania and pursuing a Masters in Counseling at Lehigh University. After 7 years in counseling, I attended Temple University where I earned my PhD in Organization Development. My first two books (Teams At Work & The Participative Leader)were published in 1992. Later I wrote Create A Life That Tickles Your Soul (a book about reinventing your life at any age),and Recharge in Minutes ( 101 ways to destress and kick up your success on a daily basis).
I now write a newspaper column, Talk About Living!, and travel around the US as a motivational speaker.
