From prostitutes like London’s Kitty Fisher, who was so furious to be given only half her fee (today’s equivalent of $500,000) that she baked it in a pie and ate it, to basketball great Wilt Chamberlain, who claimed to have had over 20,000 women, this book examines the humorous, eccentric, weird, and perverted sluts of history.

Coffee table book - Hide the coffee table,

Picked up this book on a whim. Paperback, short reading and interesting title. Weather great for reading so sat in my chair with typical blazing fire and dog by my side. Pipe in hand, however, ready to be interrupted on a moments notice. Until, I started reading Particulars of the Promiscuous. At first I thought he has got to be kidding. Lured into this book with the humor and style of the author. The style is raw and naked and I hope the author doesn't change or go to finishing school. Reminding me of my navy buddies out at sea before they let women on the ships. Yes, ladies I am chavonistic and I won't be signing this in case my wife reads this review. She already stole the book after I said "Later to dinner only a few chapters to go." Coffee table material- A must however, if you want to converse with guests hide the table otherwise you've lost them for the duration of the read unless they are willing to share their private,intimate and sometimes red faced thoughts and comments from my wife saying "What, I can't believe that Freud...No, do you really think that is possible? Looks like my wife needs another glass of wine!! Coming Dear!!!

This book is a hoot. You'll pick it up, read something outrageous about a personality, read it out loud to whomever is in the room with you, you'll laugh out loud -- maybe say "no way" -- and then talk about what you've just read. Then, you'll read a bit more and by then, you're hooked. It's almost like a list book, with tid-bits that will tickle your fancy. In a word, "fun."
