Editorial Reviews

Touche Amore are a thought provoking, passionate hardcore/punk band from Los Angeles, California.
From the first strikes of their angular yet melodic chords, it's apparent that Touche Amore have awoken something long forgotten in the hardcore/punk genre. Bringing to mind the balance of rage and melody that 'Revolution Summer' era DC bands Rites of Spring and Ignition once carried. Within each song they build an awe inspiring musical tension while impassioned vocalist Jeremy Bolm's shouts resonate, ripe with intellectual introspection. This collective outpouring of traditional hardcore anger and emotional hardcore openness ultimately coalesces into something beautiful, vulnerable, and refreshingly real.

Shortly after their formation in late 2007, Touché Amoré released their demo 7"EP on the No Sleep label. After touring the West Coast in support of that release, they recorded their debut album '...To the Beat of a Dead Horse' in early 2009. The album was co-released by the 6131 and Collect (Geoff from Thursday's vinyl only imprint) record labels, and was praised by kids and press worldwide as one of the best releases of the year. Soon after, they hit the road with a wide variety of bands including Converge, Coalesce, Thursday, Envy, and more. On the heels of these travels, Touché Amoré even managed to release a number of EPs, including splits with friends La Dispute and Make Do And Mend.

Deathwish are proud to announce the release of Touche Amore's latest album, 'Parting the Sea Between Brightness and Me'.

Touch Love represents one of the more interesting niches of recent modern hardcore. Wired for in-your-face, up close and personal live assaults, they've crafted a fiery brand of infectious punk, mixed with the captivating introspection of older screamo bands like Gospel, Orchid, and pg.99. Their debut album ...To The Beat of a Dead Horse was one that took the scene by storm and having every new-era fitted, mesh short wearing, pit bro adopting obscure band tees and memorizing, at length, the outro to `Honest Sleep'. Corny jokes aside, Touche Amore have built up a solid fan base since then and have also found a new label to call home in the process. Now firmly in the loving hands of Deathwish (Converge, The Hope Conspiracy, Ceremony), the Bay Area band readies themselves for their sophomore album Parting The Sea Between Brightness and Me.

The hype surrounding this album cannot be ignored. Collapsing the Deathwish servers for several days when advanced orders for the album came online, it serves as a testament to the loyalty and downright rabid behavior of the fans that Touche Amore have cultivated. Literally champing at the bit, everyone has been wanting their grimy little fingers over Parting The Sea; and you know what? The hype is well deserved. Parting The Sea Between Brightness and Me is quite frankly the album that a band, with as much potential and hype as Touche Amore have, needs in order to become one of the premiere hardcore acts in the scene.

Where some acts like to dress their albums down as pretty and presentable as possible, Parting The Sea comes at you straight up in its birthday suit. Stripped down entirely to the bare essentials, it's trimmed past the fat and bone all the way to the marrow.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not another album August 24, 2011
By Kreader
Format:MP3 Music
"If actions speak louder than words; I'm the most deafening noise you've heard," screams Touché Amoré's vocalist, Jeremy Bolm, in the break down of Touché's latest album Parting the Sea Between Brightness and Me's track simply titled "~". These words speak true of Touché's latest effort. With a strong sense of art and expression, while still keeping strong Hardcore roots. Parting the Sea is a massive leap forward from Touché's previous effort while still maintaining originality and honesty. Blom places himself out in the open with a pure representation of his own artistic expression. Lyricly, Bolm has moved to a more journal style of Poetry. Not the way a teenager with angst would, but in the way of someone who is trying to say exactly what they think in turning the abstract world of thought into a concrete statement. Not all of Bolm's lyrics remain to himself, however. His lyrics are relatable, and Bolm ever reaches out to the listener in the 11th track "Condolences" with a reach of understanding for a thought many people could think about.
On the musical side of Parting the Sea, the statements are just as strong and as emotional as the lyrics screamed forth. Complimenting one another to the T. Drummer Elliot Babin creates the drive that pushes this album through the skin and right to the heart giving the energy (and at times serenity) that fuels the human experience with concrete kicks and precision changes. Guitarists Clayton Stevens and Nick Steinhardt bring the atmosphere of the abstract thought to concrete reality. All of these pieces are glued together by bassist Tyler Kirby. All of these aspects mold together to create something that is just as expressive and just as strong as the lyrics they stand behind.

Any fan of hardcore, or post hardcore would love this. Touché amore is a great band and after to the beat of a dead horse I didn't know what to expect from this album but every song is great, lyrics really show some meaning about pushing people away. Also if you can watch them live they put on great shows.
