I have been an admirer of her work for a little over a year, and soon after I picked up my copy of Amy Brown's art book, I secretly hoped that Ms. Nene Thomas would put one out as well. I was not disappointed and purchased a signed copy off her website, [...]. I marvel at it everytime I travel through its pages.

If you enjoy the aforementioned subjects, or you have an appreciation for fantasy art the likes of Amy Brown, Jessica Galbreth, and Ruth Thompson, then treat yourself to this book. You will not be disappointed.

2.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful art, problems with picture quality, January 17, 2008
This review is from: Parting the Veil: The Art of Nene Thomas
I am a fan of Nene Thomas's artwork. Her drawings of fairies, queens, horses, and other fantasy themes are generally highly detailed and textured. Her colors are very rich, whether she's working in watercolor or computer.

That said, I was very disappointed with the quality of the art in this book. While it contains images of many of her best peices, the pictures are badly pixelated (grainy) and the colors and brightness uneven. Basically, the book needed much better quality control on the layout and printing side. Unfortunately, since this is an artbook, the graphics quality is critical to the value of the book. I'm sad to say that I got this and it has basically been just taking up space on my shelf because the reproductions were so bad.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sensational- By Mary Sanders, April 22, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Parting the Veil: The Art of Nene Thomas
I love fairy things, and I have a huge collection of various fairy things. Including this book, and the Art of Amy Brown I & 2. This is my favorite book of fairy art, and Mrs. Thomas is extremely gifted. Within the pages of this book you will find not only fairies but unicorns and warrior angels as well. For 25 dollars you can't go wrong. This would make a perfect gift for any fairy-tale lover.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bad Image Quality, August 2, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Before puchasing this book, I read a couple other reviews that stated how poor some of the image quality was in this book. Well, I assumed they had to be wrong, so I bought the book anyway. Turns out they were right. The image quality was pretty bad, so much so that I returned it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful art on Nene Thomas's part, July 22, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I love the artwork of Nene Thomas and she's up there in my list of favorites next to Amy Brown and Josephine Wall. The book however, did not do her work justice. The dust jacket of the book is very well made and the binding is tight as it should be. The print reproduction is however poor. At first I read the reviews on this book and decided that perhaps the persons writing negative comments were a bit too judgmental towards the publication. After purchase, I did realize that they were spot on. The artwork is pixelated in a lot of the reproductions and the other half has been poorly cropped or pulled apart left and right to try to resize it to fit the page. I wasn't thrilled about these facts because I expected a lot more from the prints judging the cost of the book and the binding that looked way too professional to fall this short of expectations.

The second thing that bothered me, it may be just preference personally, is the book was disorganized. The prints weren't organized according to date, color scheme, theme or anything. It really just bugged me beyond belief. The artist is a professional, but the way the work was presented did not match up to those standards. Do I regret buying this book? Not for a second, because after all my love for the art really won over and not my annoyance towards the reproduction quality. The colors weren't too bad although I question some of the bubble rider reproduction colors because I have the "Dark Skies" wall tile and the colors are not at all similar.

I do recommend this book because if you love fantasy art, Nene Thomas's art or both, this is a must have. I do wish there was another book released, possibly a part 2 with better reproductions and more art. This book has her older art such as the Bubble Riders and the Dragon Witches. You can easily see how much her art has evolved over the years. I really suggest looking at her website, because she has amazing new works of art up that I hope they will consider making into a separate book.

Absolutely gorgeous work from Nene, as always. The book is a masterpiece and I will proudly show it off to any visitor that happens by. If you enjoy Nene's work, or even if you have no idea who she is but enjoy faery and fantasy art work, you'll certainly love this product.
