The coupler allows you to connect two fibre optic cables to extend them. It works well, however I noticed that the signal is lost when a device with a weaker transmitter is used with this coupler. It shouldn't be a problem for most people, unless you are planning to use this with a computer.

I re-wired my TV and dropped the cables down the back, however the cable I used was too short and the electrician had left.

I ended up buying this and another line.

It works but the signal is lost somewhat. Watching movies can be difficult to understand all the dialogue.

I think I'm gonna have to drop a longer wire down the back of the wall.

Like I said, it works but it's not gonna be grade-a stuff, ya dig?

Mounted 70 inch flat screen TV on the wall with an optical cable 9 feet long . Guest' what?
Not wanting to go back inside the wall to replaced the optical cable, I use the Optical Extension Coupler

I needed to connect two optical cable together to make my TV work with my sound system, So for it works great and I have not have any break in the sound.

I bought this coupler several years ago for literally pennies and has been working just fine! You will never find better prices for accessories and cables for just about any electronic device than online. Amazon is so ez to work with and they have good customer service (if you ever need it). They even let you cancel your order online if it hasn't shipped, if you somehow find it cheaper or find out it's the wrong product! It's striking how cheap the cables are here vs. the brick and morters! It gives one pause as to the mark up the stores foist upon us! I just wish they had the "Super Saver Shipping" for everything over $25. It makes it a hassle to figure out the true value of the product because you have to compare the built in shipping cost vs. lower price + shipping for the same product. For example, I just bought a surge protector for $14.50. It was also available for $9.00 + shipping that added up to more than $14.00. That's the only complaint I have. It's no problem for 1 product, but if you have a list of stuff, some "Super Saver" ,some not, it can be a bit of a hassle. Other than that, you can't beat the value at Amazon. That's why I purchase most of my online stuff from Amazon.

I bought all the cables and connector for practically nothing compared to retail on Amazon. It sounds fantastic--huge improvement over wireless (bluetooth) or RCA connections. Don't waste money on expensive cables. The cheap ones carry the digital signal just as well.
