5.0 out of 5 stars Get It While It's HOT!, August 24, 2000

This review is from: Parts Unknown (Audio CD)
I managed to get a Swedish import of this CD last year, and I do not regret spending the extra money to get it! Now that you can get it on AMAZON, don't waste any time! GET IT!

The Hydromatics, fronted by Detroit musical legend Scott Morgan, are the closest thing to ROCK AND ROLL nirvana I've reached in quite some time. Scott and the band just fire up and COOK all the way through "Parts Unknown!" He has teamed up with Nicke Royale from Swedish powerhouse The Hellacopters and Tony Slugg for a number of remakes of tunes Scott played with Sonic's Rendezvous Band in the 70's (they happen to be the best Detroit band to never get signed to a major)and even a remake of Fred "Sonic" Smith's BABY WON'T YA by the MC5. He and Fred Sonic Smith are held in high regard by Nicke and the Hellacopters, and you can tell they work well together. The CD is not all remakes of SRB tunes though, and the new ones are GREAT as well!

The CD starts out with a FLAMING remake of EARTHY, which Scott wrote and performed with the Rendezvous Band and the CD continues to smoke all the way thru from Runaway Slaves to DANGEROUS, HEAVEN and GETTING THERE IS HALF THE FUN ! NO BALLADS here friends! I still listen to this CD at least twice a week, and can't wait for more Hydromatics CD'S! The Hellacopters are due for another too! Long Live HIGH ENERGY rock and roll!

LOVE IT! AN ESSENTIAL FOR GUITAR ROCK FANS!

5.0 out of 5 stars This really is about as rock and roll as it gets..., October 29, 2000

Fantastic!

Scott Morgan's powerful vocals, Nicke Andersson's great drumming, great Detroit-style punk rock and roll, with more cred than you can shake a stick at.

The SRB covers are all great. Top tunes are 'Earthy', 'Dangerous, 'Heaven' and much more. Every song rocks like a mother. Play it LOUD!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great High Energy Rock, March 27, 2001
This review is from: Parts Unknown (Audio CD)
Buy this cd!If you have any taste for driving pre-rap hard rock you'll love it. Scott Morgan is an underappreciated Detroit rock legend. As Mike Davis of the MC5 once said Scott can sing like a bird.Scott fronted Sonic's Rendezvous band with Fred Sonic Smith in Michigan in the late Seventies and the Hydromatics cd continues in that great tradition.Featuring great classic tunes like "Earthy" and fine newer material like "Runaway Slaves",this cd is well produced but not slick and should be a high energy Detroit Rock classic.I highly recommend it. E=MC5!!!
